On September 3, the Party Committee of the institute convened its seventh meeting of the Theoretical Study Center Group. Drawing on the content of the Party-member training session organized last week by the Party Committee of the China National Coal Administration, the group conducted an in-depth study of the article “Upholding and Improving the System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and Promoting the Modernization of the State Governance System and Governance Capacity” from Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, Volume III, as well as the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech delivered at the symposium on securing a decisive victory in the battle against poverty on March 6, 2020.
At the meeting, Dean and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Diao Haizhong led the study session and delivered a keynote address, while the attendees engaged in discussions and exchanges on the topics covered.
The meeting noted that, over the course of several millennia, the Chinese nation has forged a splendid historical civilization and developed a rich body of thought on state institutions and governance. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people and the Chinese nation have achieved national independence, people’s liberation, national prosperity, and the well-being of the people, while establishing and continuously improving the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the national governance system, yielding abundant practical results. In particular, since the onset of the COVID‑19 pandemic in the first half of this year, China’s distinctive institutional strengths—its ability to concentrate resources and accomplish major undertakings—have once again been fully demonstrated.
The meeting concluded that, under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee, China has achieved remarkable results in its poverty‑alleviation campaign, with accomplishments that have drawn worldwide attention. This year marks the final year of the decisive battle against poverty; if China successfully meets its poverty‑reduction targets, it will carry profound significance for both China and the world, while once again highlighting the political strengths of the Party’s leadership and our socialist system. As a state‑owned enterprise, our institute will soon conduct a centralized procurement of poverty‑alleviation products from Zhangjiachuan County—designated as a poverty‑relief target by the China National Coal Administration—totaling approximately RMB 60,000. In doing so, Shandong Institute is contributing its part to China’s victory in this critical fight against poverty through concrete actions.
The meeting called for the Chinese people and CPC members—those who have the deepest understanding of and the strongest voice on the superiority of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics—to consistently uphold the “Four Consciousnesses,” firmly strengthen the “Four Confidences,” and resolutely safeguard the “Two Upholds.” They must remain true to their original aspiration, keep their mission firmly in mind, maintain unwavering confidence, and strive tenaciously; in their work, they should reinforce the implementation of institutional mechanisms, pursue practical results through concrete actions, and make unremitting efforts to ensure the successful completion of all annual goals and tasks.
