Drawing on the Party’s history to appreciate the profound power of its guiding principles and delivering concrete results to advance high-quality development: The Party Committee’s Theoretical Study Center Group at the General Administration convened a special study session on “Doing Practical Things for the People” and on Party‑history study and education.

To solidly and effectively advance Party history study and education, to carry out the “Doing Practical Things for the People” practice activity to high standards and with rigorous requirements, and to promote the Group’s (Bureau’s) high-quality development, on June 2, the Party Committee of the General Administration convened an expanded meeting of its Theoretical Study Center Group and a special session on Party history study and education. Participants engaged in集中学习 of the SASAC’s key directives on advancing the “Doing Practical Things for the People” initiative, as well as selected chapters from “Q&A on Studying Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era,” “A Brief History of the Communist Party of China,” and “On the History of the Communist Party of China.” They also held discussions around the theme: “Integrate the study of Party history with summarizing experience, reflecting on the present reality, and driving work forward; link it with addressing practical problems; take the ‘Doing Practical Things for the People’ practice activity as the overarching framework; and, with dedication, care, and effort, deliver tangible results in improving people’s livelihoods. This will inspire all Party members and cadres to break new ground and write a new chapter in the Group’s (Bureau’s) reform and development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, thereby making fresh contributions to building a leading resource-development and ecological‑construction group in the industry.” The meeting was chaired by Wang Wei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee. Shang Honglin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Bureau, delivered an important address and made arrangements for the effective implementation of the “Doing Practical Things for the People” practice activity.

He pointed out that, in carrying out the practical activity “Doing Concrete Things for the People,” it is essential to be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, align with the deployment requirements of the Party Committees of the SASAC and the China National Bureau of Coal Geology, strengthen a sense of responsibility and commitment, closely integrate with actual conditions, highlight our strengths and distinctive features, and focus on the common needs and widespread problems most frequently raised by employees and the public, as well as on pressing pain points and difficult issues that urgently require resolution in the course of development, on matters related to safeguarding and improving people’s livelihoods, and on salient issues that directly affect the vital interests of workers and the general public. Pragmatic measures must be adopted to ensure tangible results.

He emphasized that gauging public sentiment and soliciting public opinion should be the first step in the initiative “Doing Practical Things for the People,” calling on Party-member leading cadres to go deep into grassroots communities, frontline production sites, and subordinate units to broadly solicit views and gain a clear understanding of people’s livelihood needs. A priority project list under this initiative should be carefully formulated, with a package of policies and measures rolled out to consolidate and expand the achievements of poverty alleviation, comprehensively advance rural revitalization, and deliver concrete, effective measures that benefit and convenience the people, thereby addressing the most pressing, direct, and practical concerns of the populace. In accordance with the requirements of the SASAC’s Three-Year Action Plan for State-Owned Enterprise Reform, Party-member leaders must draw on the spirit forged through Party history study and education to energize their efforts to drive reform, enhance the efficiency of industrial resource allocation, further deepen equity‑diversification reforms, innovate around core economic priorities, and strengthen core competitiveness. By benchmarking against world-class enterprises, the inspiring strength cultivated through Party history study and education should be leveraged more effectively in scientific and technological innovation, ensuring that efforts to deliver tangible results are carried out in a substantive and sustained manner.

He emphasized the need to integrate studying principles, staying true to our original aspiration, and shouldering our mission with the initiative “Doing Practical Things for the People,” ensuring that addressing the urgent, difficult, worrying, and期盼 issues of employees and the public is woven throughout the entire process of Party history study and education. First, we must align with higher-level directives, conduct thorough inspections of grassroots Party organizations’ study and education efforts, and promptly and effectively advance the work of delivering tangible benefits to the people in greater depth. Second, we should convene timely progress meetings on Party history study and education, convey the spirit of Comrade Zhao Ping, Director-General of the China National Bureau of Coal Geology, as articulated at these meetings, further summarize experiences, highlight exemplary practices, establish model cases, and identify areas for improvement. Third, we must organize a themed campaign—“Investigation Week: Doing Practical Things for the People”—formulate a work plan, clarify responsibilities, and ensure rigorous implementation. Members of the Group (Bureau) Party Committee should go deep into the grassroots, to the front lines, and among the people, understand the fundamental needs of employees and the public, and, in light of the requirements of Party history study and education, deliver high‑quality Party lectures. Fourth, we must tackle pressing challenges, pinpoint the most significant problems and the most urgent needs of employees and the public, addressing both immediate, concrete issues and underlying systemic ones, with particular focus on state‑owned enterprise reform, high‑quality development, industrial restructuring, scientific and technological innovation, and talent cultivation. Fifth, we must strengthen the building of grassroots Party organizations, further enhance the competence and capabilities of grassroots Party workers, enrich the content of Party history study and education activities, and ensure their practical effectiveness. Sixth, we must reinforce Party conduct and integrity, pay close attention to ecological civilization, and strictly enforce the requirements of the Eight‑Point Decision on Improving Party and Government Conduct. Seventh, we must fully leverage the roles of trade unions, the Communist Youth League, and the United Front Work Department, serving as effective bridges and conduits, continuously enriching the cultural and recreational lives of employees and the public, organizing and guiding them to offer advice and suggestions, thereby enhancing their sense of gain, happiness, and security, and inspiring all Party members and cadres to draw strength from studying Party history and to drive high‑quality enterprise development through concrete actions.
