　　On March 28, the project initiation review meeting for the 7th China Association for Science and Technology Young Talent Support Program was held at the Institute of Geology. The implementation plan titled “Research on the Mechanisms of Soil and Water Pollution in Sulfur-Containing Mine Areas and Related Ecological Remediation Technologies,” submitted by Jia Han, a young talent supported under the program, was successfully approved.

　　The review meeting was organized by the Geological Society of China. Experts from the China Geological Survey, the Geological Society of China, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), the Solid Waste and Chemicals Management Technology Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the China Chemical Geology And Mining Bureau, and other institutions carefully listened to Jia Han’s proposal defense. Jia Han provided a thorough presentation covering the research content, technical approach and methods, and the planned schedule. Following deliberation, the expert panel unanimously endorsed the feasibility of the research content and technical approach, the reasonableness of the work plan and budget, and the achievability of the expected outcomes, while also offering research recommendations and specific guidance, such as “making full use of the institution’s research platforms and actively promoting industry–university–research collaboration.”

　　At the meeting, Zhu Lixin, head of the expert panel, a second-level researcher at the Development Research Center of the China Geological Survey, and Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the Geological Society of China, outlined the background and objectives of the Young Talent Support Program. He urged participating institutions to strengthen the training of selected candidates, provide them with a conducive research environment, and encourage them to devote themselves to rigorous scholarship, embrace innovation, and strive to contribute to the advancement of geological science and technology in the new era.

　　Jiao Sen, a member of the Party Committee and Chief Engineer of the Group (Bureau), and Shang Pengqiang, a second-level expert and Director of the Geological Science and Technology Department, attended the meeting and offered guiding recommendations. Gu Qiang, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Institute of Geological Research, along with Vice Presidents Liu Junsheng and Wang Shuli, and other relevant personnel, also participated in the meeting.
