Party members of our hospital provide volunteer services on the front lines of the epidemic in the community.

“I’m a Party member—let me go first!” “I’m a Party member—let me take the lead!” These words vividly capture the pioneering and exemplary role of Communist Party members. In the face of the recent, rapidly escalating wave of COVID‑19, Jinan has launched multiple rounds of citywide nucleic acid testing. To help ensure the efficient and orderly conduct of these tests, two comrades—Shen Wenhuan, a Party member from our institute’s Geotechnical Engineering Company, and Zhang Peiwen, a retired Party member—volunteered to step forward, embodying the spirit of volunteerism. While taking rigorous personal protective measures, they each joined their respective communities’ epidemic prevention and control efforts, contributing the dedicated volunteer service of our institute’s Party members to the frontline fight against the pandemic.

Shen Wenhuan, a Party member of the Party Branch of the Geotechnical Company

On April 7, Shen Wenhuan, a Party member of the Geotechnical Company’s Party branch who lives in Dexian Community, received an “Urgent Volunteer Recruitment Notice” in the community’s WeChat group. He promptly signed up as a volunteer and actively participated in the community-wide nucleic acid testing effort, working alongside community administrators and medical staff to conduct on-site personnel registration, maintain order, coordinate activities, and distribute supplies—thus making a meaningful contribution to the fight against the epidemic.

“Epidemic prevention and control is the responsibility of every one of us,” said Shen Wenhuan. “As a member of the Communist Party, I feel deeply honored to be able to contribute my part to the community’s epidemic‑prevention efforts. I am confident that, with everyone’s concerted efforts, the pandemic will ultimately be overcome!”

A Party member is a banner. Party-member volunteers on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control are leading the public with their exemplary conduct, bolstering confidence and helping to overcome the pandemic. Their vibrant “volunteer red” has brought people genuine warmth and an inspiring sense of strength.

Retired Party Member Zhang Peiwen

On April 9, the Zhonghai Ziyu Dongjun community conducted citywide nucleic acid testing. As usual, Zhang Peiwen, a retired Party member from our hospital, promptly signed up to volunteer, lending his full support to community administrators and medical staff in carrying out the testing. Donning protective gear and a face shield, he meticulously prepared before systematically guiding residents to line up, have their temperatures checked, and present their health codes, while also distributing supplies and calling residents to come upstairs for testing. “Although the temperature wasn’t high, I was drenched in sweat within minutes of putting on the protective suit,” Zhang Peiwen remarked with deep appreciation. “I salute the heroes on the front lines of the fight against the epidemic—they’ve had it so tough!”

As “Old Zhang” of the community’s volunteer Party member team, Zhang Peiwen remains as dedicated in retirement as he was during his years on the job—never stepping away from the Party. Since retiring, he has consistently and enthusiastically participated in his community’s Party‑building initiatives and volunteer services. During this battle to contain the epidemic, Zhang Peiwen has fully embodied the vanguard role of a Party member, rising to the challenge once again with the spirit of an old steed still eager to run. He has bravely taken the lead on the front lines of the fight against the virus, working hand in hand with his fellow Party members under the Party organization’s guidance to safeguard their community, thus becoming a shining example in grassroots epidemic prevention and control efforts.
