Shang Honglin delivered the first lecture on enhancing spiritual and moral cultivation to all young employees, titled “Studying and Implementing the Spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Speech at the Centennial Celebration of the Communist Youth League, and Striving Unremittingly to Build a Industry-Leading Group for Resource Development and Ecological Conservation.” Centered on thoroughly studying and implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the conference marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Youth League of China, he traced the key historical milestones in the League’s century-long development, elucidated the League’s responsibilities, missions, and historic commitments, and put forward expectations and requirements for further deepening Party‑led youth work, strengthening the organizational building of the League, and elevating the spiritual and moral standards of League members and young people.

He emphasized that it is both essential and of great significance to effectively implement the Project for Enhancing Young People’s Spiritual Qualities. Party organizations at all levels must steadfastly uphold the principle of Party leadership over youth, strengthen the Party’s leadership over the Communist Youth League and youth work, and ensure that the spirit of the General Secretary’s important speeches, instructions, and directives is fully integrated into every stage of the League’s and youth work across the board. They should educate and guide young people to deeply appreciate the decisive significance of the “two establishments,” enhance their “four consciousnesses,” fortify their “four confidences,” and resolutely safeguard the “two upholds.” Moreover, they must carry forward and promote the glorious tradition of staying in step with the Party and striving under its leadership, so as to better bring into play the vanguard role of youth. All levels of League organizations should uphold the proud tradition of “wherever the Party flag points, there the League flag follows,” thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches, keep firmly in mind the original aspiration and mission of the Communist Youth League and youth work, and lead all young people across the board to unswervingly heed the Party’s words and follow its lead. They should strive to build distinctive brands—ones that highlight youthful contributions, tackle tough challenges, foster sound conduct, and pursue excellence—so as to guide practical work and inspire young people to inherit the fine tradition of hard work and perseverance by learning from the glorious legacy of their predecessors, and to contribute even greater youthful energy as they embark on a new journey.

Drawing on his own professional experience, Shang Honglin shared his insights and reflections with young people, emphasizing that spiritual fulfillment is life’s greatest wealth. He urged young people to set their aspirations farther afield—beyond the short term—and to pursue them on the levels of spirit and teamwork, rather than focusing solely on material gains or personal interests. He encouraged all League members and young cadres to continue upholding the “Three Glories” and “Four Special Qualities” spirit, remain firmly rooted in the front lines, humbly learn from their seniors’ working methods and cutting-edge experiences, and always maintain an indomitable spirit. With the determination forged through rigorous trials, they should tackle the most challenging tasks and play a pivotal role as pillars of strength. Moreover, they must adhere to a pragmatic, truth‑seeking approach, gaining genuine knowledge and profound understanding through practice, shouldering the mission of the new era, continuously enhancing their overall competence, and persisting in learning by doing and doing while learning. By translating their learning into concrete results, they can help build a leading group in resource development and ecological conservation, thus welcoming the successful convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China with even more outstanding achievements.

In his concluding remarks, Wang Yong urged Party and Youth League organizations at all levels to promptly convey and study the spirit of this meeting, ensuring that their actions are fully aligned with the decisions and arrangements of the Group (Bureau) Party Committee. He emphasized that, in light of the work plans outlined at the meeting, they should vigorously advance the Youth Spiritual Cultivation Initiative. Focusing on the objectives and tasks of the four phases, they should develop comprehensive work‑plan schedules and further refine and detail their implementation measures. At the same time, they must strengthen publicity efforts, tell compelling stories about young people, and foster a vibrant atmosphere. Finally, he called for upholding a work style characterized by bold innovation, pragmatic action, and prompt execution, so as to ensure tangible results from the Youth Spiritual Cultivation Initiative.
