Our institute organized an academic symposium on “New Exploration Technologies and Practical Applications for a New Round of Mineral Exploration Breakthroughs.”

To thoroughly implement the important instructions and directives of General Secretary Xi Jinping on national energy and resource security, to vigorously advance the new round of the strategic action for breakthroughs in mineral exploration, to carry forward the glorious tradition of China National Chemical Geological Workers—characterized by pioneering innovation and arduous struggle—and to effectively harness the role of new technologies and methodologies in this initiative, our institute organized an academic symposium on “New Exploration Technologies and Their Practical Applications in the New Round of Mineral Exploration Breakthroughs” on April 1. The event brought together distinguished industry experts and peer institutions from across the province to engage in scholarly exchanges on cutting-edge technologies, innovative methods, and advanced equipment in geological and geophysical exploration.

The meeting was chaired by Li Yinzhen, the institute’s chief engineer, and attended by Wang Qingfeng, Party Secretary and Director, who delivered a speech. He emphasized that since its establishment, Sinochem Shandong Institute has been committed to the development strategy of “revitalizing the institute through science and technology and strengthening it with talent.” Holding this academic exchange conference is an important initiative for the institute to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important reply, actively engage in the new round of strategic efforts to achieve breakthroughs in mineral exploration, enhance scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation, and build momentum to empower a new quality of productive forces. He expressed hope that, through this forum, academic discussions will be strengthened, theoretical innovation advanced, cooperation and exchanges deepened, and more significant outcomes distilled, thus striving to write a new chapter in the institute’s quest for mineral‑exploration breakthroughs.

The conference was themed “Building Momentum to Empower New‑Type Productive Forces and Support the New Round of Strategic Actions for Mineral Exploration Breakthroughs.” It featured a special address by Wang Zhihong, an advisory expert at the China Geological Survey, a national mineral reserve assessor, and a second‑level researcher, on “The Application of New Exploration Techniques and Methods in Mineral Exploration.” In addition, Tian Yuan, a senior engineer at Beijing Paterson Technology Co., Ltd., and Zhou Xuhong, deputy chief engineer and director of the Geophysical Exploration Institute at Guangxi Hualan Geotechnical Engineering Co., Ltd., delivered focused presentations titled “Principles of Seismic Frequency Resonance Technology and Its Applications in Resource Exploration” and “Applications of Seismic Frequency Resonance Technology in Engineering Surveys,” respectively. The experts shared cutting‑edge insights into前沿 technologies, distilled lessons learned from industrial achievements, and offered innovative perspectives on cross‑disciplinary technological integration. Attendees expressed that they had gained substantial value from the event and actively engaged in the Q&A sessions. Through the exchange of ideas, the refinement of methodologies, and the discussion of advanced equipment, the conference unfolded as a vibrant and intellectually stimulating academic forum.

Vice President Qiu Guanghui of our institute delivered a concluding address, stating that this academic exchange conference has broadened the horizons and opened up new avenues of thought for geological exploration institutions and geoscientists, while providing numerous practical working methods and innovative approaches to problem-solving. The Sinochem Shandong Institute will, as always, uphold an open and collaborative mindset, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with all relevant entities, pursue mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, and jointly advance the new round of mineral exploration initiatives, achieving further progress, new results, and tangible outcomes.

Leaders from the Shandong Provincial Institute of Geological Survey, the Shandong Provincial Center for Territorial Spatial Ecological Restoration, the Shandong Provincial Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration Institute, and the Fifth Exploration Team of the Shandong Coalfield Geological Bureau, together with our institute’s Vice President Peng Mingzhang, the Department of Geological Science and Technology, and relevant technical personnel—totaling more than 30 participants—attended the meeting.
