To further strengthen technical and quality management of geological projects and enhance the institute’s overall professional and technical capabilities, our institute conducted its 2024 annual technical and quality inspection of geological projects from July 15 to August 1.

Led by Chief Engineer Li Yinzhen, an inspection team comprising technical and quality management personnel from the Geological Science and Technology Department conducted a combined review of both office‑based documentation and on‑site conditions. The team reviewed the internal documentation for eight projects undertaken by five departments and carried out integrated in‑house and field quality inspections for four projects, including the “Iron Ore Exploration and Evaluation Project in Juzhen Area, Yucheng City, Shandong Province.”
At the site of the iron‑ore exploration and evaluation project in Juzhen Town, Yucheng City, Shandong Province, the inspection team conducted a comprehensive assessment of quality management throughout the construction process. The review focused on quality control measures during drilling operations, including drilling procedures and quality monitoring protocols. The team also heard a progress report from the project manager and discussed the challenges encountered during implementation, offering constructive recommendations to address identified issues. In addition, the team commended the project for the standardization and completeness of its original documentation, as well as for ensuring field‑work safety and maintaining high technical standards.

At the field site of the polymetallic ore‑enrichment district resource survey project in the Tailai Basin (Jinan area), the inspection team conducted on‑site inspections of key mineralized zones, geological cross‑sections, sampling locations, and geophysical survey lines. They also carried out spot checks of the project’s field geological data, reviewed original records for geological mapping, geophysical surveys, and other related activities, and gained a detailed understanding of the progress in completing the planned work. The team raised issues such as the need for timely and orderly organization of raw data and daily recording of work logs, and engaged in in‑depth discussions with the project team on pertinent technical matters.

During an inspection of the standardized management and academic‑research base construction project at the Shengjing Trilobite Fossil Protection Area in Laiwu District, Jinan City, the inspection team conducted a field survey of the planned research and study route, examined the current distribution of trilobite fossils, stratigraphic units, and geomorphological features, and reviewed field‑measured geological cross‑sections, data sheets, and field notebooks. The team expressed full recognition of the project’s technical and quality‑management efforts and provided on‑site guidance on the 1:500 scale field‑measured cross‑section.

For this quality inspection, on-site inspection records have been duly maintained and signed by the head of the project’s department and the team leader. Upon completion of each project’s inspection, the inspection team conducted an on-site handover with the project team, communicated identified issues and key points for attention, and instructed the project team to promptly address all findings in accordance with the inspection recommendations and submit a detailed rectification report to the Institute’s Department of Geological Science and Technology by the prescribed deadline.

This quality inspection effectively managed and controlled the implementation processes of all projects, heightened frontline staff’s awareness of quality prevention and control, and provided robust quality and safety assurances for the successful completion of project execution. Moving forward, the Department of Geological Science and Technology will continue to strengthen technical quality management and oversight, rigorously safeguarding both quality and safety throughout project construction. This will ensure that all projects advance efficiently, in an orderly manner, and at a steady pace, thereby translating concrete actions into new strides in the institute’s geological technology quality and safety management and supporting the institute’s high‑quality development during the 14th Five‑Year Plan period.
