From November 13 to 15, the Shandong Province “Skills Boost Shandong” Vocational Skills Competition—2024 Provincial Geological Workers (Environmental Geology) Vocational Skills Contest—was held in Linyi. Our institute sent three team members—Hou Xinxing, Lu Zhaoqun, and Wang Hao—to compete on its behalf, achieving outstanding results: Hou Xinxing was awarded the “Individual Excellence Award,” and our institute received the “Outstanding Organization Award.”
This competition was jointly organized by the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, the Provincial Department of Natural Resources, the Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, and the Shandong Bureau of Metallurgical Geology. A total of 23 teams, comprising 69 contestants from across the province’s geological sector, took part. The event combined a theoretical examination with a skills assessment: the theory portion tested candidates’ knowledge of industry policies and regulations, professional ethics, and fundamental principles related to mine ecological restoration, while the skills component evaluated field‑based surface surveys, mapping, and indoor comprehensive analysis and report preparation.
Prior to the competition, the Party Committee of the institute attached great importance to the event, carefully selecting a highly capable team. The Department of Geological Science and Technology organized the event with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring comprehensive support and logistical arrangements. All three team members participating in this competition come from the institute’s frontline field operations, bringing extensive practical experience and strong learning capabilities. With a profound sense of responsibility and collective pride, they made full use of their spare time to prepare diligently. Over the course of the three-day competition, the three contestants remained fully focused and committed, demonstrating high professional standards and embodying the admirable qualities of skilled professionals in the new era.
This competition not only assessed the theoretical knowledge and practical expertise of our institute’s environmental geology team but also provided a platform for frontline staff to hone their skills and share best practices, thereby achieving the goal of “promoting learning and training through competition.” Moving forward, our institute will continue to vigorously uphold the spirit of model workers, the spirit of labor, and the spirit of craftsmanship, further strengthen professional skills training for all employees, foster a positive culture of learning, enhancing capabilities, and striving for excellence, and solidify both theoretical grounding and practical competence in environmental geology, thus driving the institute’s high-quality development in the new era.
