   2015 year 10 In [month], the CPC Central Committee issued the “Code of Conduct on Integrity and Self-Discipline of the Communist Party of China” (hereinafter referred to as the “Code”) and circulated a notice requiring all regions and departments to conscientiously implement it. The Code has been in effect since… 2016 year 1 month 1 This shall take effect as of the date of promulgation, and the “Several Provisions on Honest Governance for Leading Cadres Who Are Members of the Communist Party of China” shall be simultaneously repealed.

All members of the Communist Party of China and leading cadres at all levels must firmly uphold the communist ideal and the conviction in socialism with Chinese characteristics; they must steadfastly adhere to the fundamental principle of serving the people wholeheartedly; they must inherit and carry forward the Party’s fine traditions and style of work; they must consciously cultivate noble moral character, strive to promote the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation, maintain integrity and self-discipline, accept oversight, and forever preserve the Party’s advanced nature and purity.

Code of Conduct for Party Members on Integrity and Self-Discipline

Article 1   Uphold the principle of distinguishing between public and private interests, putting the public before the private and practicing self-discipline in service to the public good.

Article 2   Uphold integrity and resist corruption; lead an upright life and conduct yourself with honesty.

Article 3   Uphold frugality and refrain from extravagance; maintain a life of simplicity and modesty, and practice diligence and thrift.

Article 4   Uphold the principle of putting hardship before pleasure and enjoying after, and be willing to dedicate oneself.

Article 5   Practice integrity in governance and consciously uphold the character of a public servant.

Article 6   Exercise power with integrity and conscientiously safeguard the fundamental interests of the people.

Article 7   Cultivate integrity and self-discipline, and consciously elevate your moral and ethical standards.

Article 8   Uphold integrity in family life and take the lead in cultivating a sound family ethos.
