The 2020 Annual Academic Conference of the China Society for Surveying and Mapping was held in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, on October 28–29. Centered around the theme “Internet of Everything, Intelligence-Driven Mapping: New Surveying and Mapping, New Development,” the conference highlighted emerging trends in the surveying, mapping, and geospatial information sectors.

　　At the conference, awards were presented, including the 2020 Surveying and Mapping Science and Technology Award, the National Outstanding Surveying and Mapping Engineering Award, the Pei Xiu Award for Outstanding Cartography, the Award for Innovative and Technological Units, and the Young Talent Award for Scientific and Technological Innovation. The “Survey and Mapping Technical Service Project for the Registration and Certification of Rural Land Contract Management Rights in Wutai County,” undertaken by our institute, was awarded the Bronze Prize in the National Outstanding Surveying and Mapping Engineering category.

　　The “Wutai County Rural Land Contract Management Rights Registration and Certification Surveying and Mapping Technical Service Project” marks the first large‑scale, market‑oriented surveying and geoinformation project exceeding RMB 10 million that our institute has undertaken. Since winning the bid in April 2015, our institute has attached great importance to the project. The team members have embodied the spirit of Sinochem geologists—“particularly resilient, particularly patient, particularly tenacious in battle, and particularly dedicated”—overcoming numerous challenges. After more than three years of effort, the project successfully passed acceptance in December 2018. The quality of the deliverables was highly commended by the client, and the project delivered a satisfactory outcome to the local community.

　　In addition, three projects undertaken by our institute—the topographic survey for the 1-million-ton-per-year potash fertilizer renovation and expansion project at the Dongtai Mine in Laos, and the survey of buildings, structures, landscaping, underground utility networks, and other assets within the campus boundaries at the Dongjia Campus of Jinan Jiaxuan School—were recently awarded third prize in the 2020 Shandong Provincial Surveying and Mapping & Geoinformation Industry Association’s Outstanding Surveying and Geoinformation Engineering Competition.
