On December 2, following the first snowfall, Dean and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Diao Haizhong, together with Party Committee Member, Vice Dean, and Trade Union Head Sun Xinyong, along with three other colleagues, visited the project team responsible for geological environment remediation and ecological restoration at a closed open-pit mine in Zichuan District to conduct an inspection and provide guidance, and to extend their care and condolences to the frontline field workers.

After hearing a briefing from Li Ning, Director of the Resources and Environment (Geological Disaster) Branch Institute, on the project’s basic status and implementation progress, the institute’s leadership conducted a safety inspection at the Heiwang Mining Area and the southern construction site of the Heiwang Mine Pit. They exchanged views with the project team regarding the issues currently being faced, fully commended the team’s spirit of hard work, dedication to their posts, and commitment to the geological cause, and encouraged them to press ahead, overcoming challenges under tight deadlines and heavy workloads to ensure safety and deliver high‑quality, efficient remediation results.

On behalf of the trade union, the hospital leadership presented care packages to frontline staff, reminding project team members to stay warm while working in the field, ensuring that those steadfastly holding the line felt a comforting warmth even amid the winter snow.

Subsequently, at the project office, the institute’s leadership attended a study session of the Resources and Environment Party Group. Comrades Diao Haizhong and Sun Xinyong each delivered an engaging short party lecture. Drawing on the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, Comrade Diao Haizhong analyzed the current reform landscape facing geological exploration institutions, encouraging everyone to seize the opportunities presented by this period of reform, act in line with prevailing trends, excel in serving local governments, and expand their market reach. He also emphasized that they should shoulder the social responsibilities of a central state‑owned enterprise by addressing adverse geological factors in abandoned mines, enabling the remediated areas to gradually restore their natural ecological functions and benefit local communities. While ensuring high‑quality project delivery, he urged intensified efforts to recover outstanding receivables, thereby safeguarding the immediate interests of all staff. Comrade Sun Xinyong commended the project team for their hard work and underscored the principle that “the Party branch is established at the project site, and the Party flag flies over the construction site.” He stressed that Party members must consistently set an exemplary and leading example, rallying workers and the broader workforce to overcome difficulties and ensure the successful completion of the project.

Wang Jiguo, Assistant to the Dean and Director of the General Office, and Li Zheng, Deputy Director of the Geological Science and Technology Department (Safety and Environmental Protection Department), accompanied the inspection and offered words of encouragement.
