On May 28, Gu Xiulian, Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People’s Congress, visited China Chemical Geology And Mining Bureau to attend the “Mineral Sea Craftsmanship” oral history and cultural event featuring a hundred participants, and unveiled the corporate culture exhibition hall of the Group (Bureau). Zhao Ping, Party Secretary and Director of the China Coal Geological Bureau, along with Shang Honglin, Party Secretary, Chairman, and Director of the Group (Bureau), accompanied her.
While visiting the group (bureau) corporate culture exhibition hall, Gu Xiulian pointed out that the China Chemical Geology And Mining Bureau has grown alongside the development of China’s chemical industry since the founding of the People’s Republic. Over the years, it has achieved remarkable results in national mining enterprise construction, resource exploration, and ecological conservation, making significant contributions to safeguarding the country’s strategic mineral resources and food security. She emphasized that as enterprises in the chemical geology sector enter a new stage of development, they must adhere to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, keep in mind the “two overarching situations,” bear in mind the “major interests of the nation,” prioritize development as the primary task, accurately grasp the new stage of development, thoroughly implement the new development philosophy, proactively integrate into the new development pattern, and closely align with the 14th Five-Year Plan and the 2035 Long-Term Goals Outline. They should transform their development model, broaden their development pathways, and unswervingly strengthen and expand their core geological business, continuously striving to advance the nation’s chemical geology cause and providing robust support for making a strong start and achieving solid progress in building a modern socialist country in all respects.
Gu Xiulian also granted an interview to the Group (Bureau)’s “Mineral Sea, Artisan Spirit” oral history project, expressing high praise for this cultural initiative. She noted that, as a pioneer and leader in China’s chemical industry, the Mining Bureau has continuously identified and developed more than 20 types of chemical mineral resources, including phosphorus, sulfur, potash, and boron. It has established a host of nationally significant mining enterprises—such as the Kaiyang Phosphate Mine in Guizhou, the Yunfu Pyrite Mine in Guangdong, and the Qinghai Potash Fertilizer Plant—making outstanding contributions to advancing the chemical industry and ensuring the steady growth of agricultural production and food security in China.
Gu Xiulian urged that, standing at the juncture of the two centenary milestones, China Chemical Geology And Mining Bureau should shoulder the mission of safeguarding national strategic mineral resource security and ecological environmental safety, and build itself into an industry-leading group for resource development and ecological conservation. It must continue to carry forward the spirit of chemical geology—working hard, striving vigorously, and forging ahead with determination—to live up to the mission of our times and achieve new accomplishments.
