On June 9, the Shandong Provincial Department of Natural Resources launched a public tender for 2021 ministry–province collaborative geological exploration projects. The tender encompassed 58 projects, with 52 organizations submitting bids. Following fierce competition, our institute leveraged its strong capabilities to successfully secure two contracts: “Iron Ore Prospecting in the Dulangkou Area, Chiping District, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province” and “3D Geological Modeling of the Heze, Jining, and Tai’an Regions—A ‘Perspective on Shandong’,” with a total contract value exceeding RMB 6 million.
Iron‑ore exploration is a key, competitive industrial chain for our institute. The recently awarded iron‑ore reconnaissance project in the Dulangkou area represents a new undertaking within the Qihe–Yucheng National Integrated Exploration Zone for Iron‑Rich Deposits, as well as a priority exploration target under Shandong Province’s Strategic Mineral Prospecting Program for 2021–2025—following our previous reconnaissance projects in the Dazhang area of Qihe and the Xueguantun area. To the east of the reconnaissance area lies the Dazhang mining district, where one medium‑sized, iron‑rich deposit has already been identified. The DZK1 drill hole, currently in operation, has intersected an iron‑rich ore body with a true thickness of 17.53 meters, exhibiting an average total iron grade of 59.75% and a magnetic iron grade of 57.06%, indicating significant prospecting potential.
The Shandong–Heze, Jining, and Tai’an Regional 3D Geological Modeling Project is carried out in accordance with the “Shandong Overall Development Plan.” Leveraging digitized, standardized borehole data and integrating regional geological‑tectonic settings, the project undertakes the compilation of geological cross‑sections and the construction of geological units across the Heze, Jining, and Tai’an areas, thereby establishing a three‑dimensional geological model for the region. This marks our institute’s first foray into the field of 3D geological modeling, opening up a new line of business and further advancing our geological science and technology capabilities.
