At 5:00 a.m. on July 28, two van‑type trucks adorned with banners reading “Rushing to Aid Henan” departed from Jinan, heading straight for Xinxiang, Henan, which has been hit by severe flooding caused by Typhoon “Yinhua.” The vehicles were loaded with over 60,000 yuan worth of flood‑relief supplies—rice, flour, cooking oil, medicines, and other daily necessities—urgently procured through donations organized by Comrade Mi Shouyong, a retired Hui Party member of our institute and director of the Management Committee of the Luokou Mosque in Jinan, together with the mosque’s imams and respected elders.
Since Henan was struck by unprecedented torrential rains and flooding in a century, Mi Shouyong has been deeply concerned for his fellow sufferers. After seeking and obtaining approval from the community Party committee, the subdistrict office, the United Front Work Department of the district Party committee, and the Municipal Islamic Association, Mi Shouyong promptly launched an online appeal via the Luokou Mosque’s WeChat group to solicit donations—both monetary and in kind—for flood‑relief efforts in Henan. The initiative received an enthusiastic response, and within just one day, more than 60,000 yuan was raised to aid those affected in Xinxiang. Under Mi Shouyong’s overall coordination, the relief team divided responsibilities, organizing the procurement and allocation of relief supplies, arranging transport vehicles and personnel, and ensuring safe logistics. As a result, the relief materials arrived smoothly in Xinxiang, Henan, at around 10 a.m. that same day and were duly handed over to the local Islamic Association.
“When one side is in trouble, support comes from all directions.” Comrade Mi Shouyong led the Hui community’s spontaneous disaster-relief efforts, demonstrating the noble character and profound compassion of our hospital’s Party members—whose hearts remain steadfastly devoted to the Party, who retain their spirit even in retirement, and who continue to contribute their remaining energy to society.
