Recently, Shang Honglin, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board, and Director of the Group (Bureau), was invited to attend the Second “Pooling Wisdom at Sanjiangyuan, Empowering a New Qinghai” Talent Project Negotiation Conference. He signed an agreement with Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Co., Ltd. on the “Research Project for Enhancing the Exploration and Utilization Rate of Salt Lake Resources” and granted an exclusive interview to a reporter from the Qinghai Daily regarding the project.

During the interview, Shang Honglin told reporters, “In June this year, General Secretary Xi Jinping, while inspecting Qinghai, called for accelerating the development of a world-class salt‑lake industrial base, expressing high expectations for the province’s salt‑lake sector and outlining a comprehensive development blueprint. This blueprint serves as the fundamental guiding principle and action roadmap for the future growth of the salt‑lake industry. The implementation of the projects signed this time is a robust measure to carry out General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and directives, and it will mutually support and reinforce Qinghai’s efforts to build itself into a national hub for the clean‑energy industry, an international eco‑tourism destination, and a major exporter of green, organic agricultural and livestock products.”
Shang Honglin stated that the research project “Exploration and Efficient Utilization of Resources at the Qarhan Salt Lake,” jointly undertaken by our group (bureau) and Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Co., Ltd., represents a key strategic initiative to advance the large-scale salt‑lake industry. To further optimize the integrated, circular development model for the Qarhan Salt Lake, both parties will focus on elucidating the distribution and characteristics of salt‑lake resources, enhancing resource utilization efficiency, and promoting ecological civilization in the salt‑lake sector. They will actively carry out research on the comprehensive development and utilization of salt lakes and collaborate on related scientific projects, thereby supporting green, efficient, refined, and sustainable production at the salt lake and further strengthening its scientific research capabilities and production capacity.
During its implementation, this research project has placed a strong emphasis on innovation, intensifying studies on the causes of compositional differences in salt‑lake ions, dynamic models of solid–liquid resource conversion, and the analysis of health‑promoting and harmful constituents in salt–mud–brine systems. Guided by scientific and technological advancement, the project aims to support the development of a Chinese Salt Lake Science City that integrates resource‑based chemical industries, health and wellness, and eco‑tourism, ultimately striving to transform the Qarhan Salt Lake into a “smart,” “transparent,” and “ecologically sustainable” hub, thereby accelerating the construction of a world‑class salt‑lake industrial base.
Regarding this collaboration with Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Co., Ltd., Shang Honglin stated that both parties share common needs and a solid foundation for cooperation in areas such as the full‑life‑cycle development and utilization of salt‑lake resources and technological innovation. Accordingly, following the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement, they will engage in in-depth collaboration across project implementation, joint talent training, and platform development. First, they will leverage a cooperative model based on resource sharing and complementary strengths, fostering broad synergy in resources, capital, and technology to continuously strengthen their production and R&D capabilities, thereby establishing a long‑term, stable, and mature partnership that serves the salt‑lake industry. Second, they will cultivate high‑caliber, cutting‑edge scientific and technical talent in the field of salt‑lake exploration and development. By integrating projects with talent and innovation platforms with human capital, they aim to address pressing production needs while nurturing a cohort of outstanding professionals, steadily enhancing their capacity to solve real‑world production challenges, and working together to pursue shared growth and a prosperous future.
In recent years, the Group (Bureau) has, in response to production needs at salt lakes such as Chahrhan and Lop Nur, developed core technologies for accurately measuring porosity and specific yield and for dynamically verifying resource reserves, thereby contributing to the healthy and sustainable development of the salt‑lake industry. At present, the Group (Bureau) and Qinghai Salt Lake Company have established in-depth cooperation across multiple areas, including securing salt‑lake resources, reducing production costs while enhancing quality and efficiency, developing high‑end products, comprehensively utilizing low‑grade resources, and promoting green and smart development. Moving forward, the two entities will continue to strengthen the construction of innovation platforms, pursue breakthroughs in key technologies, build a talent pool of highly specialized, sophisticated, and cutting-edge professionals, bolster financial support for scientific and technological innovation, and implement a range of measures to foster innovative initiatives—working in concert to advance the sustainable development of a world‑class salt‑lake industry.
