In his address, Guo Zhao posed three thought‑provoking questions to the participants: Why have you come to this program? What do you hope to learn? And what kind of transformation will you achieve after completing your studies? He expressed his hope that, through this training course, participants would gain a deeper understanding of Tsinghua University’s culture of learning, enhance their personal qualities, become individuals who contribute meaningfully to society, deliver high‑quality contributions, and translate the knowledge acquired in the classroom into practical work—thereby truly demonstrating the impact of their learning.

At the opening ceremony, Shang Honglin expressed earnest hopes and set forth clear expectations for all participants. He emphasized that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has attached great importance to cultivating and selecting young cadres. The depth and caliber of a cadre’s perspective on issues depend on their understanding of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, as well as on their political theory, ideological stance, viewpoints, and their ability and level in analyzing and resolving problems. Therefore, young cadres should prioritize enhancing their political theoretical competence and intensifying their study of political theory.

Shang Honglin emphasized that the young cadres participating in this training program should cherish this learning opportunity, strengthen their convictions, cultivate their Party spirit, and vigorously reinforce their political theory literacy by devoting themselves to in-depth study and thorough comprehension. They must apply what they have learned, employ rational thinking, closely integrate it with their own work, and enhance their seven core competencies. Moreover, they should strictly observe training discipline and make earnest efforts to foster a rigorous academic atmosphere and uphold high standards of conduct. He expressed the hope that these young cadres will take this training course as an opportunity to study more, reflect more, act more, gain more experience, and make greater progress in both their professional and personal lives, continuously improving their ability to solve practical problems and striving unremittingly to advance the Group’s (Bureau’s) sustainable development.
