Lü Mingpu, an 87-year-old retired worker, has been awarded the honorary title of “Shandong Healthy Elder.”

Recently, Lü Mingpu, an 87-year-old retired employee of our hospital, was awarded the title of “Healthy Elderly Person of Shandong” in the second cohort by the Shandong Provincial Health Commission. On the Double Ninth Festival, he attended the award ceremony alongside 98 other healthy seniors.

Lü Mingpu was born in 1934 and began working in 1956. Before retiring, he held several positions, including deputy team leader at the Shandong Provincial Chemical Mining Geological Exploration Team—one of our institute’s predecessors—and chairman of the trade union at the Shandong Provincial Chemical Geology Survey Institute. As a retired veteran Party member, he has always kept his Party identity firmly in mind, remaining true to his principles even after retirement. He maintains a youthful spirit in thought and actively participates in public‑service volunteer activities. A passionate sports enthusiast, he has competed in numerous provincial, municipal, national, and even Asian-level events for middle-aged and elderly participants, achieving outstanding results. He has been repeatedly honored with titles such as “Leader in Health and Fitness” and “Outstanding Individual in Senior Sports” from the provincial government organs’ senior sports association, as well as “Health Star” from the China Chemical Geology And Mining Bureau, showcasing the vigorous spirit of our institute’s retirees—steadfast in their original aspirations, positive and optimistic, striving for progress, and contributing meaningfully in their later years.

This time, the Shandong Provincial Health Commission has organized the second “Healthy Elderly of Shandong” selection campaign, aiming to proactively address the national strategy on population aging, promote the concept of healthy aging, and fully implement the “Healthy Shandong – Senior Health Initiative.” Moving forward, our hospital will continue to actively advocate for a healthy lifestyle, encourage and guide retired staff to enjoy a vibrant and fulfilling post-retirement life, continually enhance their sense of fulfillment and well-being, and make due contributions to Healthy China.
