On November 4, the Party Committee of the Group (Bureau) convened a symposium on “Doing Practical Things for the People.” Song Junmao and Xue Bin, members of the Second Guidance Team for Party History Study and Education of the China National Bureau of Coal Geology, attended the meeting. Shang Honglin, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board, and Director of the Group (Bureau), presided over the session and delivered an important address.

At the meeting, Wang Yong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, reported on the progress of the Group (Bureau) initiative to “Do Practical Things for the People.” The Henan Bureau, Shandong Institute, Mingda Ocean Company, and Yunnan Institute each delivered remarks.

Shang Honglin pointed out that all units have attached great importance to the “Doing Practical Things for the People” campaign, undertaking extensive work and making strenuous efforts. Particularly in addressing the pressing concerns, difficulties, and aspirations of employees and the public, as well as certain longstanding issues, it is evident that everyone is goal‑oriented, confident, and resourceful, having implemented pragmatic and effective measures that have yielded significant results.

Shang Honglin emphasized that the “Doing Practical Things for the People” campaign is a key vehicle for Party history study and education. All Party organizations at every level within the Group (Bureau) must regard this campaign as an important lever that runs throughout Party history study and education and permeates all aspects of their work, ensuring it is carried out to high standards and advanced with high quality. They must always put “strictness” first, implementing all arrangements and deployments of the CPC Central Committee and higher-level Party organizations in a solid and rigorous manner, with stringent standards, strict measures, and strict discipline.
Shang Honglin emphasized the need to elevate the political standing of practical activities across the board, guiding the “Doing Practical Things for the People” initiative with the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech on July 1. He stressed that this initiative must be treated as a major political task, with principal officials assuming overall responsibility and taking personal charge. It is essential to coordinate and advance both the practical activities and core work, ensuring that neither is neglected and that each reinforces the other. Concrete actions should be integrated with the comprehensive deepening of reform and with all annual production and business objectives, keeping the central focus on serving the broader national interest. Core tasks must gain new strengths and yield fresh results through these practical efforts, fostering a mutually beneficial synergy between the two. To ensure tangible outcomes, the initiative must be comprehensively advanced by concentrating on the most pressing, widely shared needs and common issues raised by the public; on the critical bottlenecks and difficult challenges hindering development; and on longstanding historical problems that have remained unresolved. Effective measures must be implemented to drive corrective action. Ongoing supervision and guidance are also crucial. Each supervisory team should, in accordance with prescribed requirements and priority tasks, intensify research and guidance on the practical activities of the units they oversee, while innovating online oversight methods to guarantee real results in key projects addressing people’s livelihoods. Furthermore, it is imperative to sustain a favorable public‑opinion environment for these activities. Strengthened publicity and outreach are needed to build consensus among Party members and cadres, promptly identify, summarize, and promote exemplary cases of “doing practical things for the people,” and respond promptly to the concerns of employees and the general public. By amplifying positive voices, we can foster a robust public atmosphere of widespread support and active participation.

Song Junmao highly commended the Group (Bureau) on the implementation of its “Doing Practical Things for the People” campaign. He stated that the Party Committee of Sinochem Mingda (Sinochem Bureau) has organized and carried out this initiative in a solid and systematic manner, with a well‑crafted plan that is both feasible and effective, yielding tangible results. The campaign has addressed a number of pressing concerns and difficulties that the public has long been eager to see resolved, marking significant progress in fulfilling the responsibilities of a central state‑owned enterprise and serving social development. He emphasized that the “Doing Practical Things for the People” campaign embodies the Party’s fine tradition of maintaining close ties with the masses and is a concrete manifestation of the Party’s mass line. A long‑term mechanism must be established to ensure the sustained continuation of this work. Leaders at all levels should go deep into the grassroots and the front lines, uphold the spirit of “driving in each nail,” and genuinely resolve the urgent, difficult, and pressing issues facing employees and the public. He further stressed that, during the course of this initiative, constructive suggestions beneficial to the organization should be actively solicited to help propel the company’s high‑quality development. Finally, he called for unwavering adherence to rigorous standards, sustained momentum, and steadfast commitment in the study and education on Party history, with particular emphasis on conducting thorough summaries and institutionalizing successful practices going forward.
