The Group (Bureau) convened a meeting to advance the preparation of the “A Brief History of Seventy Years of Development.”

　　On the afternoon of November 4, the Party Committee of the Group (Bureau) convened a progress meeting on the preparation of the “A Brief History of Seventy Years of Development” via video conference. The meeting primarily reported on the achievements of the “Hundred Voices: Oral History” cultural initiative and outlined arrangements for the key tasks in compiling the “Brief History.” The meeting was chaired by Zhang Xuanji, Deputy Director of the Party and Mass Work Department, while Wang Yong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, attended and addressed the gathering.

　　The meeting noted that, since the launch and deployment of the compilation of the “Brief History,” all directly affiliated units have actively participated in related efforts, including the collection of historical materials, interviews with eyewitnesses, and the production of documentary films. They have approached this work from the perspective of the General Administration’s cultural development, fully appreciating its substance and significance, and have completed the first-phase tasks with a strong sense of mission and responsibility.

　　Wang Yong emphasized that the compilation of the “Brief History” represents a landmark, major undertaking for the General Administration—looking back at the past, grounding itself in the present, and looking ahead to the future. It is essential to deeply appreciate its profound significance, adhere to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as our guiding principle, and thoroughly explore the outstanding contributions our Administration has made to national development and the Party’s cause across different historical periods. We must make effective use of available resources, maintain a rigorous work style, and fully highlight the significant contributions, remarkable achievements, and exemplary spirit embodied in the course of history, striving to build a historical discourse system that reflects our Administration’s political orientation, development philosophy, and distinctive characteristics.

　　Wang Yong urged Party organizations at all levels to treat the compilation of the “Brief History” as an important political task, assume primary responsibility for its implementation, and effectively fulfill their roles in leading, guiding, and ensuring quality. He emphasized the need to make efficient use of resources, maintain a rigorous work style, strengthen the team, and secure adequate funding, so as to further bolster confidence and invigorate morale. In accordance with the General Administration’s overall plan and the Editorial Committee’s work arrangements, he called for earnestly translating this sense of mission and responsibility into concrete actions—paying tribute to the General Administration’s seventy-year journey of glory and marking its seventieth anniversary with meaningful contributions.

From its origins as the Chemical Resources Section at No. 46, District Seven, the General Administration has steadily evolved into the nation’s leading enterprise in the chemical‑geological sector—longest‑established, largest in scale, most specialized, and strongest in overall strength. It has weathered major challenges, including industry transformations, institutional and mechanism reforms, and adjustments to market structures. The historical lessons distilled from seven decades of development, the significant missions it has accomplished, and the outstanding individuals who have emerged are all invaluable assets. To unite and rally the entire workforce, and to compile a concise history that serves as a practical guide for today, preserves a legacy for future generations, and stands the test of time, is both a momentous undertaking of our present era and a shared mission and responsibility for all cultural professionals, carrying profound political and practical significance.

　　A total of 123 participants attended the meeting, including heads and correspondents from all departments at the Group headquarters, as well as leading officials in charge at each directly affiliated unit, responsible officers from relevant departments, and members of the cultural activities working group.
