The Youth League Committee of the institute organized a themed League class titled “Carrying Forward a Century of League History, Letting Youth Shine” and a symposium for League members and young people.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Youth League of China, in order to better unite young people, listen to their voices, and inspire League members and youth to carry forward the spirit of struggle and make contributions in the new era, the Institute’s Youth League Committee organized a themed League class and a symposium titled “Inheriting a Century of League History, Letting Youth Shine” on April 26. Yang Cheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, along with Youth League Committee members and nearly 20 League members and young people, attended the event.

Yang Cheng led the youth league members in raising their right fists and solemnly taking the oath. The resolute pledge etched their original aspirations for joining the League, once again cleansing their minds and strengthening their conviction to “stay true to our original aspiration and follow the Party.”

Yang Cheng delivered an inspiring Youth League lecture titled “Always Follow the Party, Strive Forward on a New Journey” to the League members and young people. The lecture covered six key aspects—An Introduction to the Communist Youth League of China, the General Secretary’s “Six Requirements” for youth in the new era, how to effectively carry out youth work in the new era, the spirit of the White Paper on Chinese Youth in the New Era, and the theme “Youth Remain True to Their Original Aspiration, Follow the Party, and Bravely Make Contributions in the New Era”—and, drawing on his deep understanding of the League, provided a detailed and vivid exposition. His remarks encouraged the broader youth to hold high the League flag, follow the Party, and contribute to the new era through concrete actions. Yang Cheng also articulated five expectations for the League members and young people:

First, one must be good at planning and find a clear direction in life.

Second, we must keep learning and draw strength to move forward.

Third, we must cultivate long-term aspirations and persevere with sustained effort.

Fourth, we must cultivate a sense of collective identity and strengthen our sense of belonging.

Fifth, young people should be full of vigor and aspiration, striving for progress and goodness.

At the meeting, the Youth League Committee of the institute conveyed and studied the Group (Bureau)’s 2022 key work priorities for the Communist Youth League and the action plan for the themed campaign “Carrying Forward a Century of Youth League History to Usher in a Brilliant Youth.” The committee also reported on the institute’s awards and commendations for May Fourth Day, distributed study materials from the Communist Youth League and membership notebooks, and made specific arrangements and deployments for the various tasks of the Youth League branches in the near term.

Outstanding young representatives and 2021 Young Skilled Professionals, Shi Nannan and Xie Fei, shared their work experiences and personal growth stories on the spot.

The participating Youth League members and young colleagues, drawing on their own work and study experiences, shared their insights and reflections. They expressed that listening to the thematic Youth League lecture and hearing the inspiring stories of outstanding young role models had been deeply encouraging and immensely beneficial. In the new era, the Party and the government attach great importance to and show heartfelt care for young people, creating favorable conditions for their growth. We should cherish these opportunities all the more and strive to carry forward the red legacy, shoulder the responsibilities of our times, integrate our personal aspirations into the overarching themes of the era, and actively engage in the vigorous practice of Shandong Institute’s reform and development. Responding to the call of the times, the Youth League members and young staff of Shandong Institute will rally even more closely around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, keep in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping’s deep concern for young people, proactively assume responsibility and dedicate themselves, conscientiously fulfill their duties, boldly pioneer and innovate, and remain steadfast in their confidence and conviction to follow the Party. Through concrete actions, they will greet the successful convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
