On July 28, the China Chemical Geology And Mining Bureau successfully held a press conference to launch the book “A 70-Year History of the China Chemical Geology And Mining Bureau.” Ren Hui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the China Coal Geological Bureau; Shang Honglin, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board, and Director of the Bureau; and Wang Yanqing, chief editor of the “70-Year History,” along with other leading officials, attended the event and delivered speeches. Zhu Lixin, Executive Deputy Secretary-General and Vice President of the Geological Society of China, and Zhou Weibin, Chairman and General Manager of the Chemical Industry Press Co., Ltd., were invited to attend the conference and offer congratulatory remarks. Partner enterprises such as Yunnan Phosphate Group, SDIC Xinjiang Lop Nur Potash Salt Co., Ltd., and Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Co., Ltd. sent telegrams of congratulations, while numerous local units conveyed their best wishes to the Bureau via video link.

“The 70-Year History of the China Chemical Geology And Mining Bureau” is the first chronicle-style work compiled by the Group (Bureau) to document its development. Spanning 600,000 characters, it systematically and comprehensively traces the Bureau’s evolution through five distinct phases—its founding period, the planned-development era, the early years of reform and opening-up, the structural-adjustment period, and the corporate-operation phase—beginning with the Mining Resources Section of the Chemical Industry Bureau under the former Ministry of Heavy Industry of the Central People’s Government in the early 1950s. The book covers a wide range of topics, including geological prospecting, mine construction, mining operations, scientific research and design, Party building, and corporate culture, thereby highlighting the vital role and historical contributions of the chemical geology and mining sector to the national chemical industry and to broader economic and social development.

In his address, Shang Honglin pointed out that over the past seventy years, the China National Chemical Geological Bureau has grown alongside the People’s Republic of China, undergoing a remarkable transformation from nothing to something and from weakness to strength. It has steadfastly shouldered the historic mission of safeguarding the nation’s strategic mineral resources and ecological and environmental security, achieving rapid development and remarkable accomplishments. Generation after generation of geological professionals at the Bureau have demonstrated unwavering patriotism, endured arduous struggles, pursued innovation with determination, and carried forward the legacy of their predecessors, thus becoming witnesses, participants, and driving forces behind China’s chemical mining and geological industries.

Shang Honglin emphasized that, over 70 years of relentless striving, the future ahead is bright; the history of the China Chemical Geology And Mining Bureau not only chronicles the turbulent journey of an enterprise but also embodies the glory and honor of the chemical geology sector.

Shang Honglin called on all cadres and employees to “remain true to our original aspiration and write a splendid chapter, keep our mission firmly in mind and set out anew,” striving to compose a new, magnificent chapter of high-quality development in the chemical industry as we embark on the new journey of fully building a modern socialist country, and making fresh and even greater contributions to achieving the Second Centenary Goal and realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

At the meeting, Ren Hui delivered an important address, commending the Group (Bureau) on its reform and development achievements in recent years and recognizing the hard work and dedication of the leadership, cadres, and employees of the Sinochem Bureau. He noted that, over the past few years, the Bureau’s leadership team has remained true to its original aspirations, maintained unity, firmly upheld the “Four Consciousnesses,” closely aligned itself with General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, kept pace with the times, pursued progress with determination, and forged ahead through innovation. As a result, it has formulated a development plan and industrial layout centered on “one foundation, three pillars, and two integrations,” while staying committed to its core business of geological exploration, strengthening mineral resource development, and focusing on underground engineering as well as ecological restoration and remediation. Under their leadership, all cadres and employees have earnestly implemented the decisions and arrangements of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and the Bureau, thoroughly carried out the Bureau’s overarching “11463” development strategy, and successfully fulfilled all tasks assigned by the Bureau.

He emphasized that he hopes the Sinochem Bureau will seize this opportunity to continuously strengthen both internal and external management, strive to expand into broader markets, and ensure the effective implementation of all tasks, thereby placing the Bureau on a faster track of development and enabling it to grow stronger, better, and larger. The Bureau should remain committed to the business philosophy of “market‑oriented and customer‑centric,” align with policy trends, proactively advance the construction of its marketing system, reduce costs and enhance efficiency through improved management, and work tirelessly to elevate the quality of its operations and growth.

At the press conference, Ren Hui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director-General of the China National Bureau of Coal Geology, and Shang Honglin, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman, and Director-General of the Bureau, jointly unveiled the commemorative emblem marking the 70th anniversary of the Bureau’s founding.
