The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was successfully convened on October 16. Our institute organized a broad contingent of Party members, cadres, and employees to attentively follow the opening session through television, the internet, new media, and other channels, viewing the proceedings with great joy. The Congress report has elicited a strong response among grassroots cadres and the general public at our institute; all expressed their commitment to keep firmly in mind the original aspiration and mission, and, guided by the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, to forge ahead with determination and courage in pursuit of the institution’s high-quality development and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Listening to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s report, I was deeply moved by the tremendous achievements China has made over the past five years under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee, which have stirred in me an overwhelming sense of pride and confidence. My more than one-year experience working abroad on business trips has only deepened these feelings. Amid the COVID‑19 pandemic, when compared with the epidemic‑control policies and attitudes of foreign governments, the Chinese people have felt a profound sense of security. Recently, my hometown of Tai’an has been facing a new wave of the virus. Following the outbreak, our government responded swiftly, and the public cooperated wholeheartedly. During the period of working from home, I truly witnessed the community’s strong awareness of prevention and the selfless dedication of both the government and medical personnel. I am confident that we will soon overcome this challenge once again.

Recently, we thoroughly studied General Secretary Xi Jinping’s reply to all the geologists of the Sixth Geological Brigade of the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. As a young geologist, I have been deeply inspired. Moving forward in my work and life, I will continue to carry forward the spirit of the “Three Glories” and the “Four Special Qualities,” uphold the fine traditions of the “Heroic Geological Team,” keep our mission firmly in mind, tackle tough challenges, and dare to innovate. In doing so, I will contribute my efforts to safeguarding national energy security and advancing green, low‑carbon development, thereby translating into concrete actions the earnest expectations that General Secretary Xi has for geological workers.

First, we remain committed to lifelong learning and uphold unwavering political resolve. Second, we fulfill our duties with diligence and pragmatism. As technical pillars of our department, we steadfastly stay true to our original aspirations and shoulder our mission. We thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s reply to all staff of the Sixth Geological Brigade of the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, seize opportunities, bravely take on heavy responsibilities, and wholeheartedly embrace our mission. Relying on solid professional expertise, we meticulously complete every geological exploration project and contribute to the new round of strategic initiatives for breakthroughs in mineral exploration. We carefully study policies and regulations, proactively adapt to market changes, strengthen communication and collaboration with clients, and expand markets to achieve outstanding results. Third, we harness science and technology to drive innovation. We emphasize comprehensive research in geological work, accelerate the integration of geology with big data, and use technological innovation to propel a qualitative transformation in the quality of geological exploration. For example, leveraging advanced geological big‑data technologies—such as those employed in the “Perspective on Shandong” project—we have developed new methods and approaches for mineral exploration. Focusing on our province’s advantageous and critically scarce mineral resources, we identify promising anomaly zones, conduct deep‑level and blind‑spot exploration, and open up new areas, striving to achieve comprehensive breakthroughs in mineral discovery. We also intensify exchanges and cooperation with research institutions, universities, and academies, advancing the study of new theories, technologies, processes, and methodologies related to mineral resource exploration and utilization. Our goal is to make fresh advances in fundamental geology, deep‑earth mineral exploration, the laws governing ore formation, and ore‑deposit prediction, thereby elevating the overall standard of geological prospecting. At the same time, by grounding our efforts in specific projects, we provide frontline experience for talented personnel, cultivate high‑caliber professionals and research teams, and bolster the enterprise’s core competitiveness.

Since beginning my career in 2009, I have accumulated more than 13 years of experience. As a geologist, I have scaled the towering peaks and deep canyons of the Tianshan Mountains, waded through the rivers, lakes, and streams of Northeast China, traversed the desolate, uninhabited Gobi Desert of Xinjiang, and roamed the vast grasslands of Inner Mongolia. I have endured frigid temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius and braved the sweltering heat and perils of Africa. Over these 13 years, I have come to appreciate the arduous nature of geological work while strengthening my resilience and perseverance. As China’s economy transitions from rapid growth to a stage of high-quality development, guiding principles such as “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets” and “green, low-carbon, and circular development” have presented both opportunities and challenges for the swift advancement of environmental geology. The report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, with its emphasis on “promoting green development and fostering harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature,” along with its call to “advance the building of a Beautiful China,” has further clarified the direction for the future development of geological work over the next five years.

As a grassroots geologist and a key technical expert in my department, I will always bear in mind the geological spirit of “Three Glories” and “Four Specials,” firmly uphold the important principle that “mountains, rivers, forests, farmland, lakes, and grasslands constitute a community of life,” and actively engage in ecological‑environmental projects such as geological disaster prevention and control, thereby making my due contribution to national economic development and to safeguarding the lives and property of the people. As a member of the Communist Party, I will remain true to my original aspiration and keep my mission firmly in mind, uphold the revolutionary spirit of putting others before oneself and enjoying less for oneself, and carry forward the fearless spirit of fearlessly confronting hardships and daring to forge ahead. I will strive to complete all exploration tasks with excellence, dedicating my energy and passion to the nation’s geological cause from my ordinary post, and celebrating the triumphant convening of the 20th National Congress of the CPC through concrete actions.

In the field, the song of the exploration team often echoes in my ears: “It is the wind from the valleys that stirs our red flag; it is the raging rain that washes away our tents. With a passion like flames, we have overcome all fatigue and cold…” I believe this embodies a profound sentiment—the unwavering commitment of geologists to serve the people and dedicate themselves to the motherland.

The road is long and arduous, but perseverance will lead us to our destination. As geologists, we must embody a fearless spirit, gaining experience and honing our skills through countless journeys across mountains and rivers, braving the elements and enduring hardship. With high morale and even more outstanding achievements, let us present our finest work as a tribute to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
