Recently, the Shandong Provincial Department of Natural Resources announced a list of 20 provincial-level green exploration demonstration projects across the province. The Urban Geological Survey Project for Taian City, undertaken by our Taian Geological Branch (Business Unit), was successfully selected, marking the first provincial-level green exploration demonstration project for our institute.

This round of the Shandong Province Green Exploration Demonstration Project selection was conducted through a combination of conference review and on-site field inspections. During the conference review, the expert panel heard from Project Leader Meng Linghua on the project’s implementation of green exploration practices, as well as on measures and outcomes related to institutional development, energy conservation and environmental protection, technological approaches, remediation and restoration, and harmonious exploration. During the on-site field inspections, the expert group randomly inspected the construction and site‑restoration activities at ten drill holes, commended the project’s achievements in green exploration, and concluded that the project’s green exploration procedures were standardized, its restoration and remediation measures were appropriate, and its documentation was complete—meeting all relevant requirements for green exploration.

This successful selection as a provincial-level green exploration demonstration project has accumulated valuable experience for the comprehensive implementation of green exploration at our institute, will effectively promote the dissemination and application of green exploration technologies, and will inject “green momentum” into the initiatives to build an “Ecological Shandong” and a “Beautiful China.”
