Building a project brand in service of national strategies.
The construction of a Beautiful China, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the exploration of national strategic mineral resources—through meticulous planning and steady implementation of these major national strategies—have injected powerful momentum into China’s high-quality economic development. Upholding the principle that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets,” the Bureau (Group) has seized the opportunity, leveraged its specialized technical expertise, and undertaken numerous projects in ecological and environmental governance as well as the ecological restoration of abandoned mines, thereby building its corporate brand while contributing to the nation’s strategic goals.

The design-and-construction general contracting project for the ecological restoration of historically abandoned mines in Yongding District, Longyan City, Fujian Province has achieved landscape reshaping, soil reconstruction, vegetation restoration, and biodiversity re‑establishment within the district. As a result, the ecological environment of the project area and its surrounding regions has been restored, living conditions and the aquatic ecosystem have been improved, and the carbon‑sequestration capacity of the ecosystem has been strengthened.

The Kaiyang Daping phosphate mine exploration project in Guizhou has cumulatively completed 54,970.70 meters of drilling, identifying approximately 150 million tons of Grade I‑quality phosphate ore resources. This project represents the largest single‑deposit, high‑grade phosphate deposit discovered domestically over the past three years—a concealed phosphate deposit—and marks another significant breakthrough in ultra‑deep, concealed, high‑grade phosphate exploration in China during the same period. The project also successfully conducted pumping tests on the main water‑bearing aquifer at a depth of 900 meters, achieving a record‑breaking ultra‑deep water level. For these achievements, it was awarded the Third Prize in the “Non‑Metallic Minerals Science and Technology Award” (Public Welfare Category) by the China Non‑Metallic Minerals Industry Association.

The China National Chemical Corporation’s Local Research Institute, in collaboration with Chengdu University of Technology, is jointly implementing on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau a demonstration project for ecological restoration of historically abandoned mines along the southwestern margin. This project conducts pilot studies on slope revegetation and soil reconstruction techniques. By employing a novel modified glutinous‑rice‑based eco‑soil‑stabilizing material, the researchers have reconstituted a soil layer that integrates “soil stabilization and seepage control—soil maturation and vegetation establishment—crust formation to prevent evaporation.” This has led to the development of an integrated ecological restoration framework combining engineering structures, eco‑materials, and biotechnological approaches, significantly enhancing the reconstructed soil’s water‑ and nutrient‑retention capacities, erosion resistance, freeze–thaw durability, and mechanical properties.

The Banpa Potash Mine Exploration Project in Laos represents a significant step for Sinochem Group in implementing the national strategy of “going global,” with the company steadfastly committed to safeguarding national food security and dedicated to the exploration and development of the potash market.

The exploration team for a spodumene deposit in a mining district of the Republic of Tajikistan has newly identified a blind ore (or mineralized) body at depth, located outside the initial mining area. This ore body exhibits significant resource potential; the next steps will involve further delineation to characterize its features, concurrent deep‑level verification, and expansion of the exploration outlook.

The Bureau (Group) regards ensuring the security of the nation’s strategic mineral resources and ecological environment as its core mission, and pursues the vision of “building an industry‑leading group in resource development and ecological conservation.” In the realm of technology‑brand building, it is advancing steadily and sustainably, contributing to the country’s prosperity and development.

The Shandong Branch of the China National Chemical Engineering Group has, through practical application, developed a comprehensive technical system for the investigation and assessment of heavy metals in riverbed sediments. This system encompasses surveying and mapping, geophysical exploration, hydrogeological and environmental investigations, pollution site characterization, particle-size and speciation analyses, and source‑tracing studies. The methodology has been successfully applied to the remediation and management of heavy‑metal contamination in the sediments of rivers such as the Yu River, Jie River, and Huanglei River, yielding significant results. The work has received prestigious awards, including the “Top Ten Outstanding Geological Achievements” of Shandong Province and the First Prize of the Shandong Provincial Land and Resources Science and Technology Award. Furthermore, the branch has drafted the China Geological Society’s group standard, “Investigation and Assessment of Heavy‑Metal Contamination in River and Lake Sediments.” According to an appraisal by the China Petroleum and Chemical Mining Federation, this achievement represents a major breakthrough in the treatment of heavy‑metal contamination in sedimentary deposits and is broadly applicable to the remediation of such contamination across diverse aquatic environments—including rivers, lakes, coastal tidal flats, and leachate pits—overall reaching an internationally leading level.

In complex geological settings, large-scale, high-precision regional 3D geological modeling techniques address the challenges of regional 3D modeling by introducing a “segmentation–stitching based on tectonic units” approach. This method breaks down the modeling domain into smaller, manageable segments, thereby overcoming the limitations of conventional methods in handling large‑scale planar modeling. A comprehensive workflow has been developed, encompassing integrated downward extrapolation of geological data, fusion of multi-source heterogeneous datasets, and deep integration of geological expert knowledge with computational technologies, which significantly enhances modeling accuracy.

The technical team for the exploration, development, and utilization of salt‑lake resources has focused its research and technological innovation on addressing critical challenges in underground brine resource exploration, extraction, ore‑processing, and dissolution‑conversion operations within salt‑lake mining and production, as well as on key issues such as the evaluation of overseas salt‑lake resource development. The team has successfully established a three‑dimensional hydrogeological structural model and a resource management platform for salt lakes, completed directional drilling across salt‑lake areas, and resolved the bottleneck posed by shallow brine—where conventional horizontal sidetrack wells suffer from insufficient burial depth and inadequate build‑up curvature radius. Furthermore, the team pioneered a stratified, segmented pumping‑test approach, employing specialized equipment and methods to conduct independent pumping tests on individual brine‑bearing formations, thereby enhancing the accuracy of resource assessment and providing valuable insights and references for the exploration and development of deep, pressurized brines.

The overseas project team of the Shandong Branch of Sinochem Geological Bureau has successfully completed more than 200 projects funded by the Central Exploration Fund and other social programs. Operating in nearly 20 countries and regions across Africa, the Americas, Southeast Asia, and beyond, the team has carried out geological surveys, engineering investigations, geophysical exploration, mapping, and well‑drilling services. It has established a robust talent development system, cultivating a highly qualified, internationally experienced, forward‑thinking workforce with comprehensive expertise and outstanding technical capabilities. Leveraging over two decades of solid experience in international geological work and a service philosophy rooted in “honoring contracts and upholding credibility,” the team has forged a distinctive brand identity in the field of overseas geological operations.

The volunteer service team of the Hebei Geological Exploration Institute takes “spreading love, carrying forward civilization, and dedicating ourselves to society” as its guiding principle.
