On August 23, the third “Hua Kan Cup” men’s basketball tournament of the China Chemical Geology And Mining Bureau concluded successfully in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. Our institute’s team, through a spirit of unity and collaboration, a tenacious fighting spirit, and outstanding basketball skills, secured an impressive third-place finish in this year’s competition.
The eight team members competing this time come from all fronts and positions within our institute. Prior to the competition, the institute’s Party and administrative leadership attached great importance to the event, specially formulating an incentive and reward mechanism. The institute’s trade union meticulously organized the preparations and provided comprehensive logistical support, ensuring that the team could prepare diligently and compete smoothly. Despite challenges such as tight production schedules and dispersed work locations, the players demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and collective pride, making full use of their spare time to train intensively in preparation for the event.
Over the course of five days of intense competition, the entire team played steadily and cohesively, advancing through each round with seamless coordination. In the group stage, our institute’s team secured two victories to clinch a spot in the next phase; in the knockout rounds, they advanced to the semifinals with a commanding, decisive margin. In the third-place playoff, despite four days of grueling matches that had pushed both their physical stamina and mental fortitude to the limit—and even with several players nursing minor injuries—the team refused to back down in the face of formidable opponents, rising to the challenge and ultimately claiming third place.
This competition took place at a pivotal moment when the entire hospital was poised to make a final, vigorous push in the second half of the year. On the court, our basketball team fought bravely and strived for collective glory. Meanwhile, more than 800 kilometers away at the hospital headquarters, colleagues across the organization tuned in online to watch the action unfold, flooding the chat with supportive messages to cheer on our athletes.
Winning the third-place trophy this time not only recognizes the players’ hard work and relentless dedication, but also affirms the Shandong Institute’s strong team cohesion and fighting spirit.
