Recently, the Shandong Province “Skills Boost Shandong” Vocational Skills Competition—2024 Provincial Geological Exploration Industry Geological Surveyor (Mineral Geology) Vocational Skills Contest was successfully held in Linyi. Our institute was awarded the “Outstanding Organization Award” at this event.

This competition was jointly organized by the Provincial Department of Natural Resources, the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, the Provincial Geological Survey Institute, the Provincial Institute of Geological Sciences, the Linyi Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning, and the Provincial Geological Society. A total of 90 contestants from 30 geological exploration units across the province competed on the same stage, honing their skills. The event comprised five components: core logging, rock and mineral identification, a theoretical examination, trench logging, and field‑route observation.
This competition not only tested the contestants’ specialized knowledge but also placed exceptionally high demands on their practical skills, adaptability, and team‑working spirit. Confronted with the complex and ever‑changing geological conditions and the rigorous assessment tasks, our institute’s team members responded with composure and tenacity, striving valiantly to excel. Two female participants, in particular, proved that women are every bit as capable as men, delivering outstanding performances through unwavering perseverance and meticulous professional expertise, thereby showcasing the refined technical proficiency and spirited demeanor of geologists in the new era.

This competition not only assessed the professional expertise and practical skills of our institute’s geologists but also provided a platform for technical personnel across the province to learn from one another and exchange best practices, thereby achieving the goals of enhancing training through competition, fostering learning through competition, and applying what is learned in practice. Taking this competition as an opportunity, our institute will continue to uphold the spirit of model workers, the spirit of labor, and the spirit of craftsmanship, further strengthen professional skills training for staff, and continuously improve both theoretical knowledge and hands-on capabilities, thus driving high-quality development in the new era.
