To further strengthen scientific and technological innovation and talent development, our institute recently organized an academic training session on “Theories of Land Subsidence and Monitoring Methods,” building on the preliminary research achievements of the “Scientific and Technological Innovation Team for Research on the Mechanisms and Prevention of Urban Land Subsidence.” The event featured specialized lectures by Professor Jia Chao and Dr. Dong Xiao from Shandong University, a collaborative partner of the team.

Professor Jia Chao provided a clear and in-depth exposition on the macro‑ and micro‑scale mechanisms of land subsidence, fluid–solid coupling models, and engineering applications, covering five key aspects: the background and practical needs of land subsidence, existing challenges and limitations within the field, research approaches and distinctive features, the application of research findings, and future prospects. Meanwhile, Dr. Dong Xiao outlined the concept and interpretation workflow of InSAR technology, highlighting its applications in monitoring land subsidence and outlining emerging trends for its future development. Participants unanimously agreed that the training was both comprehensive and highly practical, closely aligned with real-world work conditions, and of significant guiding value for advancing our institute’s research on land‑subsidence mechanisms and innovating monitoring methodologies. It also serves as an important demonstration of our institute’s efforts to build scientific and technological capabilities and empower new‑type productive forces.

Following the training, our institute and Shandong University held a symposium. Jiao Sen, a member of the Party Committee of the Bureau (Group) and Chief Engineer, who oversees the Party and administrative affairs of Shandong Institute, welcomed the delegation led by Jia Chao and expressed his gratitude for Shandong University’s longstanding support and assistance. He outlined the overall development of the Bureau (Group) and our institute, as well as the work undertaken in recent years in ecological geology and science and technology. He emphasized the hope that, on the basis of joint innovation teams, the two sides will establish a long-term cooperative relationship, leveraging the university’s research strengths to cultivate our institute’s core competitiveness in ecological geology and lay a solid foundation for its high-quality development. In turn, Jia Chao presented the university’s discipline-building efforts, its research achievements in ecological geology, marine geology, and related fields, and its talent-development initiatives. Looking ahead, both parties will further strengthen communication and exchange, continuously consolidate and deepen their cooperation mechanisms, expand areas of collaboration, and fully capitalize on their respective strengths. They will intensify joint research efforts in theoretical studies, talent exchanges, and innovative applications, reinforce the development of science-and‑technology innovation platforms, and work together to achieve high-quality development.
