On June 26, Jia Chunqu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the China National Bureau of Coal Geology, led a delegation to Jinan, Shandong, where he paid a courtesy call on Zhou Naixiang, Deputy Secretary of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Shandong Province. The two sides held an in-depth symposium and exchange, focusing on thoroughly implementing the important instructions and directives of General Secretary Xi Jinping, advancing central–local cooperation to support Shandong’s economic and social development, and, in the context of the Bureau’s new round of strategic initiatives for breakthroughs in mineral exploration, jointly promoting the construction of a new‑type energy system, ecological civilization, emergency management, and green, low‑carbon development. Warm, Vice Governor of the Shandong Provincial Government, and Xu Wen, Secretary-General of the Provincial Government, as well as Ju Yitai, Deputy Director of the Bureau, attended the meeting.

Jia Chunqu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government for their longstanding support and care for the China National Bureau of Coal Geology. He noted that the Bureau’s newly appointed Party Committee has thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important remarks during his inspection tour of Shandong, as well as the key directives delivered at the symposium on enterprises and experts convened by General Secretary Xi in Shandong in May 2024. Focusing on matters of national importance, the Bureau adheres to the principle that “wherever the General Secretary’s decisions and arrangements lead, there the Bureau will follow up and ensure their implementation,” fully leveraging its strengths as a “three‑armed force” in the geological sector. The Bureau is deepening pragmatic cooperation with Shandong across such areas as the new round of strategic initiatives for breakthroughs in mineral exploration, ecological protection and high‑quality development in the Yellow River Basin, emergency rescue, and disaster prevention and mitigation, continuously expanding avenues for collaboration. Eight second‑level units under the Bureau—including the Chemical Industry Bureau, the Hydrogeology Bureau, the Guangdong Bureau, and the Geological Group—have precisely aligned themselves with Shandong Province’s industrial layout and its strategic priorities for green and low‑carbon transformation, thereby empowering the province’s comprehensive industrial upgrading and making positive contributions to its high‑quality economic and social development. As a major economic and resource‑rich province with abundant mineral resources and an excellent business environment, Shandong offers vast potential. Moving forward, the Bureau will further strengthen its in-depth cooperation with Shandong, striving for new breakthroughs in coal‑chemical and mineral resource exploration and development, ecological restoration, geothermal energy‑driven rural revitalization, full‑lifecycle services for mines, and emergency rescue operations.

Zhou Naixiang extended a warm welcome to Jia Chunqu and his delegation, expressing sincere gratitude for the China National Coal Geological Bureau’s longstanding contributions to Shandong’s high-quality economic and social development. He noted that the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government have earnestly implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important remarks during his inspection of Shandong, firmly shouldering the mission and responsibility of “taking the lead and shouldering major responsibilities,” with various economic indicators ranking among the top nationwide. As the national team in coal and chemical geology exploration, the Bureau boasts robust technical capabilities in geological surveying, ecological and environmental remediation, and emergency rescue. Relevant government departments and enterprises in Shandong have engaged in in-depth cooperation with the Bureau across multiple fields; notably, during the rescue operation following the Hushan gold mine accident, the Bureau’s Dadi Specialized Exploration Team demonstrated exceptional scientific expertise and competence, playing a pivotal role in establishing a lifeline. Zhou expressed the hope that the Bureau will continue to leverage its unique strengths—its state‑owned enterprise brand, cutting‑edge technology, and talented workforce—to further deepen collaboration in the new round of strategic initiatives for mineral exploration breakthroughs, geothermal and new‑energy development to boost rural revitalization, mine ecological restoration, and mine rescue, thereby achieving mutual benefit and win‑win outcomes. Shandong Province, for its part, will proactively provide support and services to facilitate the Bureau’s development in the province, ensuring that more cooperative projects are successfully launched and yield tangible results.
