“Cultivating Dreams with the Fragrance of Books, Caring for Children” — The First Party Branch Launches a Book Donation Campaign in the Spirit of Lei Feng

There is an elementary school located in Wushan County, Chongqing, more than 1,200 kilometers away from Jinan. According to reports, the school currently has a total of 28 students, among whom approximately 60 percent are children from impoverished families receiving subsistence allowances or with disabilities. Most of these children are left-behind kids living in mountainous areas, and some from low-income households rely on external support. Limited by educational resources and their family circumstances, books have become their primary means of enriching their inner lives and gaining insight into the world beyond their communities.
To thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on promoting the spirit of Lei Feng and to vigorously advance the ethos of volunteer service, the First Party Branch recently organized a book‑donation drive for left-behind children in remote mountainous areas—children who yearn for education and knowledge.
This event received an enthusiastic response from Party members and active participants in the branch, with more than 110 books (or sets of books) collected at the venue. Carefully selected by all, these titles span a wide range of fields, including literature, art, history, psychology, science and technology, and educational reference materials—content that is both engaging and highly educational, perfectly suited to primary school students and young children.
“These books are all ones that the children absolutely love; some of them have been read over and over again. They often swap them with their classmates, telling them to send the books to their younger siblings far away. Everyone is very supportive and feels it’s truly meaningful,” said the donor.
Books carry wisdom, and knowledge empowers. This batch of books, imbued with our institute’s care and warmth, will be carefully packed and mailed in the coming days, bringing knowledge and hope to children deep in the mountains.
This event aims to encourage Party members, cadres, and staff of the branch to embody the spirit of Lei Feng by donating books, while also shining a spotlight on left-behind children. By passing on a single book, we seek to convey compassion, share knowledge, and inspire positive energy, enabling children in mountainous areas to grow up healthy and happy under the nurturing warmth of care and the enriching influence of reading.
