The geological exploration and geophysical survey project at Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni has passed its field inspection: gaining momentum and tackling the toughest challenges.


Recently, our hospital… Bolivia The Uyuni Salt Flat geophysical exploration project team successfully passed the review conducted by Qinghai CITIC Guoan Technology Development Co., Ltd. and Bolivia’s National Lithium Company ( YLB Field inspection conducted by the joint inspection team. After hearing from Zhang Hailiang, the on-site supervisor of the geophysical exploration work, regarding the current deployment of geophysical surveying, the interpretation and results of geophysical analyses for each water‑finding target area, the placement of drilling locations and the distribution of aquifers, as well as a detailed plan and recommendations for the next phase of geophysical operations in the peripheral water‑finding zones, the inspection team expressed high appreciation for the technical competence, professional attitude, and dedication of our institute’s geophysical project team.

Bolivia The Uyuni Salt Flat geophysical exploration project is one of the large-scale geophysical survey and construction projects undertaken in recent years by the Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration Branch of our institute. Located in the high-altitude mountainous region of the Bolivian Plateau, the project faces challenging conditions, including tight deadlines, heavy workloads, high elevation, severe sandstorms, and an extremely harsh natural environment. As “geophysical exploration takes precedence,” this phase constitutes the initial stage of the entire exploration program. To ensure timely completion and secure a successful start, under the leadership of Deputy Director Peng Mingzhang, the project team rose to the challenge: just two days after arriving on site, they assembled and commissioned the geophysical equipment and promptly launched into intensive field operations, working from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

 

The project team adopted a reverse‑schedule, visual‑management approach, scientifically and rationally allocated tasks, and pioneered innovative working methods, thereby achieving continuous… 20 During the day’s intensive fieldwork, we completed the field survey mission one day ahead of the client’s scheduled deadline, resolutely tackling this challenge as a matter of course. 2 A “hard nut to crack” that takes months to complete.

While carrying out fieldwork, the project team has remained committed to… The “three‑in‑one, timely” principle entails: conducting exploration and construction concurrently; analyzing and interpreting data as it is collected; adjusting and revising the exploration plan on an ongoing basis; and promptly organizing and processing the acquired geophysical data—following completion of field operations. 5 Within days, the Spanish-language geophysical survey report was submitted to the client, laying a solid foundation for the client’s subsequent geological studies.
