Recently, our institute convened chief engineers and key technical personnel from all departments for a focused exchange and seminar on the new round of the Strategic Action for Mineral Exploration Breakthroughs. The session further implemented the institute’s work plan for this initiative, clarified its strategic positioning, and ensured scientifically sound planning, with the aim of achieving new breakthroughs in mineral exploration under the new strategy and using concrete results to assess the effectiveness of the thematic education campaign.
Chief Engineer Li Yinzhen conveyed the spirit of Party Secretary and President Wang Qingfeng’s participation in the Shandong Provincial Department of Natural Resources’ symposium marking the first anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important reply to the No. 6 Geological Exploration Team of Shandong Province. She then led the team in studying the speech delivered by Wang Guanghua, Party Secretary and Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources, entitled “Earnestly Study and Implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Expositions, and Strive to Contribute the Strength of Natural Resources to Ensuring Both Food and Energy Security,” as well as the Shandong Provincial People’s Government’s Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the Development and Utilization of Geothermal Energy (Document No. Lu Zheng Zi [2023] No. 173). She provided a systematic overview of the overall plan for future geothermal resource exploration and development within Shandong Province, along with detailed information on the Shandong Institute’s new round of strategic action plan for breakthroughs in mineral exploration. She also reviewed and summarized the major achievements attained under the Institute’s 2023 strategic initiative for mineral exploration breakthroughs, and instructed all financially supported projects to accelerate progress, improve fund execution rates, and ensure timely completion with assured quality and quantity. Furthermore, she called for strengthened oversight of technical quality, enhanced comprehensive capabilities of technical personnel, and intensified comprehensive analysis of previous project outcomes. She emphasized the importance of proactively preparing project proposals at both the provincial level and at municipal bureaus, identifying entry points for project approval at the intersections of different disciplines, and striving to demonstrate new accomplishments and make fresh contributions in the new round of the strategic action plan for mineral exploration breakthroughs.
In light of the new round of the Strategic Action for Mineral Exploration Breakthroughs and relevant requirements, and taking into account the Institute’s current realities in geological exploration, participants engaged in an in-depth exchange focusing on geological quality management, the development and utilization of geothermal energy, high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, scientific and technological innovation, and the effective implementation of the new round of the Strategic Action for Mineral Exploration Breakthroughs.
Since the launch of the new round of strategic actions for breakthroughs in mineral exploration, our institute has adopted a multi‑pronged approach to ensure the effective implementation of related work. We have actively organized academic exchanges to enhance the professional skills of our technical staff, convened policy seminars to clarify our institutional positioning and development priorities, and promptly procured specialized publications to facilitate learning and knowledge acquisition, thereby strengthening our expertise. These efforts have laid a solid foundation for making new discoveries in mineral exploration as we vigorously engage in this latest phase of the strategic initiative. At present, within the province, our institute is conducting several key exploration projects, including the Qihe–Yucheng iron‑rich deposit, the Lanling iron mine, and the Qixia gold mine. Outside the province, we have successfully won bids for multiple mineral exploration projects in Xinjiang and Yunnan, while overseas exploration initiatives in Sudan, Malaysia, Laos, Mozambique, South Africa, Argentina, and other countries are progressing in parallel, holding the promise of achieving groundbreaking discoveries across multiple regions.
In late November, the Geological Science and Technology Department of our institute will join forces with the Youth League Committee to organize a “Showcase of Real‑World Expertise, Foster Development through Exchange” competition for the exhibition and evaluation of original field data. This initiative aims to further enhance the professional ethos of our staff, strengthen the technical expertise of our personnel in scientific innovation and practical application, and improve the quality of field geological work. By actively cultivating a robust workplace culture of “learning from one another, striving for excellence, helping each other, and surpassing one another,” we will support the effective implementation of the new round of strategic actions to achieve breakthroughs in mineral exploration and secure further progress.
