The Institute’s Department of Geological Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Youth League Committee, organized a special training session on “Strengthening Academic Exchange to Promote High-Quality Development” and the “Mingda Craftsman Lecture Series.”

Recently, in order to earnestly implement the spirit of the “Several Measures on Further Strengthening the Training and Utilization of Young Scientific and Technological Talents” issued by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council, enhance the professional skills of technical personnel, deepen the cultivation of employees’ spiritual and cultural qualities, and build a team of talent that dares to innovate and strive, the Geological Science and Technology Department of our institute, in collaboration with the Institute’s Youth League Committee, organized the first session of the thematic training series “Strengthening Academic Exchange to Promote High-Quality Development,” as well as the “Mingda Craftsman Lecture Series.” The inaugural session featured special lectures delivered by Researcher Yuan Congjian and Senior Engineer Qi Xiequan.

At the training session, Researcher Yuan Congjian highlighted key considerations for conducting geological work both domestically and internationally. Drawing on his own professional experience, he provided guidance to young staff members on project initiation, planning, fieldwork, and report preparation. When discussing best practices for reading foreign technical reports and relevant international standards, Researcher Yuan read the original texts in fluent English and systematically translated their main points. His exceptional expertise and extensive practical experience earned him widespread praise and deep respect from the younger generation of geologists.

Senior Engineer and Mingda Craftsman Qi Xiequan presented an overview of mine‑site technical‑condition exploration, covering five key aspects: principles of exploration, phase delineation and basic tasks, hydrogeological investigation, engineering geological investigation, and environmental geological surveying and assessment, as well as report preparation and map compilation. He systematically summarized the essential elements of hydrogeological and environmental geological investigations. Technical‑condition exploration is a critical chapter in geological exploration reports, playing a pivotal role in mine construction and safe production. Young technical personnel will take this training as an opportunity to integrate theoretical insights with practical application, putting what they have learned into practice, thereby providing more precise exploration data for mines and delivering robust technical support to ensure safe operations.

By inviting industry experts, model craftsmen, and other exemplary figures to participate in academic exchange activities, the organization has provided a platform for young employees to learn and engage with one another, deepening their understanding of job responsibilities and technical requirements while enhancing their professional skills. The Youth League Committee of the institute calls on all young geoscientists to seize this opportunity, actively take part in learning and exchanges, accelerate their personal growth and development, and support technical personnel in fulfilling their duties conscientiously, assuming responsibility proactively, pioneering innovation, and striving to deliver outstanding results—thereby contributing their youth and wisdom to advancing the institute’s high-quality development.

More than 40 participants, including Chief Engineer Li Yinzhen, Director of the Geological Science and Technology Department Liu Jianwen, Secretary of the Youth League Committee Yang Xiaomin, as well as relevant technical personnel and young employees from the Jinan and Tai’an districts, attended this training and exchange event.
