Our hospital was awarded the Third Prize in the Provincial Emergency Response Occupational Skills Competition and the Outstanding Organization Award.


From August 19 to 21, the second Emergency‑Response Occupational Skills Competition of the Shandong Provincial Geological System—titled “Safe Yellow River, Geological Responsibility”—was jointly hosted by the Shandong Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, and the Shandong Yellow River Water Conservancy Bureau, and organized by the Shandong Provincial Geological Trade Union, the Safety and Emergency Rescue Management Division of the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, and the Shandong Yellow River Trade Union. At this event, the contestants from our institute’s Surveying and Mapping Information Branch, through dedicated effort and perseverance, proudly secured the third prize in the “Emergency Surveying” team category as well as the Outstanding Organization Award, while Li Jiabin was awarded the third prize in the individual competition.

The second competition was held in the Huanghe Niantou Control and Guidance Project area of Licheng District, Jinan City. This event featured four disciplines: emergency surveying and mapping, emergency geophysical exploration, emergency drilling, and emergency monitoring. A total of 57 teams, comprising nearly 300 participants from more than 20 geological exploration units across the province—specializing in surveying, geophysical exploration, drilling, and monitoring—took part, drawing representatives from the geological systems of nine provinces (and autonomous regions) along the Yellow River to observe on-site.

Since receiving the notice for this competition on August 9, our institute, under the leadership of the Institute Trade Union and with the cooperation of the Geological Science and Technology Department, has formed a participating team. The team is headed by Jia Ruifeng, Chairman of the Institute Trade Union, who serves as the overall team leader, while Ji Shucheng, Director of the Surveying and Mapping Information Branch, acts as the technical advisor. The team comprises four members: Li Jiabin, Zhu Fengqin, Wang Lichao, and Zhao Zhanzhan. Amidst their busy surveying and mapping duties, the Surveying and Mapping Branch organized intensive study sessions for the team members, focusing on the various documents distributed by the competition organizing committee—particularly the detailed implementation rules for the emergency surveying and mapping category—and conducted extensive parameter adjustments to both software and hardware in order to achieve optimal performance.

The day before the competition, the venue was battered by heavy rainfall, causing most of the temporary tents that had been erected to collapse. Drawing on the Sinochem spirit of “exceptional resilience and unwavering fighting spirit,” our team members worked alongside the event staff to restore the facilities and swiftly complete the installation and calibration of all equipment. Amid the post‑rain sunrise and humid, sweltering conditions, the competitors remained composed and focused, delivering consistent performances in drone flight operations, DOM and 3D data generation, and DLG product production—ultimately securing a highly satisfactory result.

Through this competition, participants unanimously agreed that it was an excellent learning opportunity, enhancing their hands-on skills and broadening their professional horizons, while also highlighting the gap between our team and leading organizations in the industry. Moving forward, the Surveying and Mapping Information Institute will conduct a thorough review of the event, leveraging the competition to elevate technical expertise and, in turn, boost operational efficiency. This effort will provide high‑level surveying and geospatial information services to support sectors such as Yellow River flood control, geological exploration, petroleum, and transportation, thereby contributing to the institute’s drive for high‑quality development.
