On October 12, the Party Committee of the institute convened its ninth expanded session of the Party Committee Theoretical Study Center Group, to convey and study the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important reply to all geological workers of the Sixth Geological Brigade of the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, the spirit of the expanded session of the Party Leadership Group’s Theoretical Study Center Group of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the spirit of the “Notice on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing the Spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Reply to the Shandong Geological and Mineral Resources Sixth Brigade” issued by the Shandong Provincial Department of Natural Resources and the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geological and Mineral Exploration and Development. Due to the impact of the pandemic, the meeting was held in a hybrid format—both online and offline. Wang Qingfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the institute, led the study; members of the Party Committee, relevant institute leaders, heads of various departments, and secretaries of all Party branches attended, engaging in exchanges and discussions grounded in practical considerations.
At the meeting, participants jointly studied and comprehended the profound implications and essential spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important reply. They unanimously agreed that, with the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China just around the corner, General Secretary Xi Jinping’s reply fully demonstrates the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core’s consistent and paramount attention to national energy and resource security, as well as its care for and trust in geological workers across the country. All present expressed their firm resolve that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important reply unequivocally affirms the historic contributions made by the broad ranks of geological workers to the cause of the Party and the country. They pledged to bear in mind the General Secretary’s earnest instructions, shoulder their responsibilities with courage, overcome difficulties, and, through concrete actions, contribute to safeguarding national energy and resource security.
The meeting noted that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important reply is far-sighted and deeply strategic, articulating a long-term vision for mineral resource exploration and development from the strategic perspective of safeguarding national energy and resource security, upholding the national economy and people’s livelihoods, and ensuring national security. It has charted the course and provided fundamental guidance for advancing geoscientific research and geological mineral exploration in the new era, while also serving as an inexhaustible source of momentum for Shandong Province to take the lead and break new ground in the latest round of the strategic initiative to achieve breakthroughs in mineral exploration.
The meeting emphasized that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important reply is deeply heartfelt, rich in content, of great significance, and far‑reaching in its impact. As a central geological surveying unit stationed in Shandong, and as the national team and main force in mineral exploration and ecological civilization construction, we must take the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important reply as our guiding principle and strive to promote high‑quality development of geological work and scientific and technological innovation in the field of earth sciences in the new era. The meeting called on all staff throughout the institute to regard studying and implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important reply as an important political task for the present and the period ahead, to intensify publicity and study, and to ensure that both thought and action are aligned with this spirit, thereby ensuring that it is effectively put into practice and yields tangible results across all areas of work.
The meeting called for the following: First, in light of the important instructions delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection tour of Shandong, a vigorous campaign to study and implement the spirit of his significant reply letter should be swiftly launched across the entire institute. Second, focusing on core responsibilities and primary tasks, we must closely monitor and promptly respond to the series of policies and measures subsequently issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Provincial Department of Natural Resources to strengthen and advance geological work; seize this historic opportunity, actively participate in the new round of strategic actions aimed at breakthroughs in mineral exploration, and strive to achieve new advances in geological prospecting. Third, we must earnestly put the concept of green development into practice, proactively integrate with local and national economic development, coordinate geological exploration with ecological and environmental protection, and further expand our services in ecological conservation and restoration. Fourth, bearing in mind that energy and resource security is a matter of paramount national importance, we should intensify market‑development efforts, broaden the scope of geological services, and bolster innovation in geological science and technology. Fifth, we must strengthen benchmarking and learning, vigorously promote the “Three Glories” and “Four Special Qualities” spirit upheld by geological professionals nationwide—exemplified by Shandong Geological Team No. 6—and foster throughout the institute a strong culture of honoring, valuing, and striving to be exemplary, thereby inspiring all staff to embark on the new journey of building a modern socialist country in all respects with renewed enthusiasm and high morale, and to write a new chapter of high‑quality development for the Shandong Institute.
