On August 17, Wang Qingfeng, Party Secretary and President, led a three-member delegation to the construction site of the “Shallow Geothermal Energy Survey and Heating Pilot Project for Poverty Alleviation and Relocation in the Yellow River Floodplain (Zhangqiu District), Jinan City,” currently being implemented by our institute’s Hydrology and Environmental Branch. Accompanying the inspection were Sun Xinyong, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President; Liu Jianwen, Director of the Geological Science and Technology Department (Safety and Environmental Protection Department); and Dong Yan, Director of the Hydrology and Environmental Branch.
Shallow geothermal energy, as a clean energy source, can replace conventional heating fuels, reduce atmospheric pollutant emissions, and both conserve electricity and cut carbon footprints, thereby aligning with the goals of “green development,” “dual carbon” targets, and “new energy” initiatives. Upon completion, this project will help address the district’s heating shortfall of over 2,000 m² and a funding gap of approximately RMB 3 million, while providing essential technical support and scientific evidence for the future, scientifically sound planning, rational development, and comprehensive utilization of shallow geothermal resources in the Yellow River Basin. This will play a crucial role in further advancing ecological civilization across the province, promoting the sustainable use of shallow geothermal resources, fostering the growth of the geothermal industry, and safeguarding the ecological environment.
The hospital leadership team conducted a thorough review of the project’s overview, construction progress, the district’s shallow geothermal energy survey, and the related findings, and expressed full appreciation for the project’s standardized implementation and the achievements attained.
Regarding the project department’s next steps, Wang Qingfeng put forward three requirements:
First, this project leverages technologies such as new‑energy development—particularly geothermal resource exploitation—and clean‑energy heating in rural areas, serving as a model for advancing the construction of a modern rural energy system. It should be developed into a high‑quality, exemplary project that showcases the brand strength of Sinochem Shandong Institute.
Second, the project’s development is in line with the requirements set forth in the Opinions on Implementing the National Strategy for Ecological Protection and High‑Quality Development in the Yellow River Basin. It also represents a concrete manifestation of our institute—acting as a central state‑owned enterprise—of its political and social responsibilities under the “Targeted Poverty Alleviation by Central Enterprises” initiative. We must deepen our study of the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s remarks during his inspection tour of Shandong and at the symposium on ecological protection and high‑quality development in the Yellow River Basin, striving to generate not only economic benefits but also more significant social returns.
Third, the project team includes outstanding Communist Party members and has established model Party member posts, demonstrating the leading role of Party building. Each Party member serves as a banner; we must continue to strengthen the exemplary impact of “Leave it to me, look to me, and follow my lead,” fully leveraging the project department’s Party organization as a strong fighting fortress and the pioneering, exemplary role of Party members, thereby using Party building to drive comprehensive improvements in project management, construction quality, and production and operations.
