The Fifth Supervision Team of the Group (Bureau) conducted a comprehensive supervisory inspection at our institute.

Recently, a three-member team led by Jiao Sen, head of the Group (Bureau)’s Fifth Supervision Team, member of the Party Committee, and Chief Engineer, conducted a comprehensive supervisory inspection at our institute to assess the implementation of key tasks under the strategic priorities of “focusing on core business, enhancing quality, ensuring steady growth, managing risks, advancing reform, and strengthening Party building.” Zhang Xuanji, deputy head of the supervision team and director of the Group (Bureau)’s Party and Mass Work Department, along with Wang Deli, deputy director of the Geological Science and Technology Department, accompanied the inspection.

At the mobilization and deployment meeting, the supervision team set forth specific requirements for this round of supervisory inspections, heard a special‑work report from our institute, and, through discussions with members of the institute’s leadership team and on-site reviews of relevant records and documentation, conducted an inspection and provided guidance on the implementation of seven key areas: the Three-Year Reform Action Plan, the 14th Five-Year Plan, special rectifications related to investment and property rights, investment adjustment plans, the deregistration of overseas entities, measures to reduce overcapacity and cut losses, and the cleanup of affiliated entities.

During the inspection, the supervisory team visited the drilling site and the project office of the “Iron Ore Prospecting Project” in the Dulangkou area of Chiping District, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, to conduct on-site checks and provide guidance. The team reviewed the project’s overview, construction progress, geological conditions at the work site, the status of the project office’s facilities, and the geological findings achieved. They commended the project office’s standardized operations, its efforts to standardize Party‑building activities, and the tangible results attained, while offering constructive recommendations. In addition, the team conducted a thorough safety inspection of the drilling site, identifying potential hazards in the staff dormitories, kitchen, and other living areas, as well as in the data room and recreation space. The supervisory team emphasized the need to strictly adhere to relevant safety regulations during field operations, reminded personnel of safe practices when using electricity and gas, and urged all project staff to firmly safeguard both their health and safety and the integrity of the operation.

Following the conclusion of the inspection, the supervisory team convened an on-site meeting to provide feedback on its findings. The team commended our institute for the significant progress achieved in rigorously implementing its work, outlined the issues identified during the review, and put forward recommendations for corrective action. In addressing the promotion of high-quality development at Shandong Institute, Jiao Sen set forth specific requirements: First, clearly define core responsibilities and focus on core business areas to build strong competitive advantages. In light of future development needs and the current situation, further clarify primary responsibilities, concentrate on core businesses, and refine and optimize the institute’s strategic direction and objectives. Efforts should be made to enhance and expand the resource exploration and development segment, vigorously develop the ecological and environmental sector, and strengthen the underground engineering construction division, thereby forging a new industrial development paradigm characterized by regionalization, specialization, and synergy. Second, conduct a comprehensive review to identify gaps and address shortcomings, emphasizing practical results to ensure the successful completion of the three-year reform initiative. It is essential to elevate political awareness and strengthen a sense of responsibility for reform; coordinate efforts across all levels and maintain unity from top to bottom in carrying out rectification; and focus on key priorities to ensure that reforms are effectively implemented and yield tangible outcomes. Third, adhere to a problem-oriented approach and pursue genuine, substantive improvements. Expedite the reduction of non-core operations and their orderly exit; implement a roadmap for high-quality development; further improve the internal control and compliance management system; and significantly increase investment in scientific and technological research and development, bolstering innovation teams and highlighting the leading role of science and technology.

Leaders of our institute and heads of relevant departments attended the supervisory symposium, while responsible officials from the Mineral Exploration Branch accompanied the site inspection.
