Our hospital’s laboratory conducted a hazardous chemical spill drill and a fire‑fighting drill.

To implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on work safety and the spirit of the “Notice from the Office of the State Council Work Safety Committee and the Ministry of Emergency Management on Launching the 2022 National ‘Work Safety Month’ Campaign,” our institute recently conducted, in accordance with its work plan, a hazardous chemical spill response drill and a fire‑fighting drill in its laboratories.

This chemical‑hazard leak drill specifically included a scenario on emergency response to the accidental spill of a small quantity of sulfuric acid. Following the incident, drill participants promptly responded and managed the situation in accordance with the relevant procedures outlined in the “Safety Emergency Plan of Laboratory No. 19 for Chemical, Geological, and Mining Operations,” successfully completing the chemical‑hazard leak exercise. Subsequently, all laboratory personnel took part in a fire‑fighting drill, focusing on hands‑on firefighting training and conducting an inspection of the building’s fire‑safety equipment.

Through chemical‑hazard leak drills and fire‑fighting exercises, the laboratory has enhanced its emergency response capabilities for chemical spills and fires, strengthened employees’ safety awareness and their ability to execute emergency evacuations, and raised the department’s overall level of safety preparedness. Moving forward, the laboratory will continue to place a high priority on safety, embedding the principle of “life first, safety paramount” deeply into every role and every staff member, steadily reinforcing the foundation of laboratory safety measures, and striving to translate the outcomes of these drills into concrete results that effectively address risks and challenges and ensure safety and stability.
