On February 16, the Tai’an Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning convened a panel of experts to review and provide guidance on the drilling feasibility study for the urban geological survey project in Tai’an City, Shandong Province—specifically, the section pertaining to the geological investigation and evaluation of urban underground space. Wang Lei, Chief of the Geological Exploration Management Section of the Tai’an Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning, and Wu Shumeng, Director of our institute’s Tai’an Geological Branch, attended the meeting.
The expert panel first heard a report from Project Manager Meng Linghua on the project’s activities for 2021, expressing full recognition of our institute’s work over the past year and offering guiding recommendations for the upcoming drilling operations. The experts emphasized that the next phase of the Tai’an City Urban Geological Survey will focus on supporting the city’s development strategy and addressing key geological issues that influence urban growth, with drilling concentrated along significant geological boundaries and major concealed structural features. The project team stated that it will refine the work plan in accordance with the panel’s advice, rigorously implement environmentally responsible drilling practices, and ensure the timely and high‑quality completion of the urban geological survey tasks, thereby providing robust foundational geological data to support the subsequent development of an urban geological big‑data sharing platform.
The Urban Geological Survey Project for the Urban Area of Tai’an City, Shandong Province—specifically the section on the geological survey and evaluation of urban underground space—will comprehensively employ modern geological survey techniques to conduct a multi‑factorial urban geological investigation covering geological resources, the environment, and spatial dimensions. The project will clarify the city’s geological structure, underground space, geological resource endowments, and environmental conditions; address existing gaps in urban geological work; expand urban development space; and establish and refine an institutional framework for the integration, sharing, and application of urban geological findings, thereby providing robust geological support for green, intensive, and smart urban development.
