Recently, the official website of the Ministry of Natural Resources announced that our institute successfully passed the 2021 national surveying and mapping quality supervision and inspection. This inspection covered 20 Class-A surveying and mapping qualification units randomly selected nationwide, with our institute being the sole unit from Shandong Province to undergo a quality‑inspection sampling.
On September 13, 2021, a delegation from the National Mapping Product Quality Supervision Group of the Ministry of Natural Resources, including Hua Xian, Gao Dehua, Chen Hangxing, and others, visited our institute to conduct a four-day inspection of surveying and mapping projects. During the inspection, the team reviewed relevant project documentation, conducted a focused assessment of management and technical aspects—including the establishment and implementation of the institute’s quality management system for surveying and mapping products, as well as the preparation of project technical files—and carried out field verification of the accuracy of project data.
Through supervision and inspection, the inspection team concluded that our institute’s surveying and mapping quality management system is generally sound, operates effectively, and enables the implementation of surveying and mapping projects in accordance with its requirements. The team also offered valuable recommendations for further standardizing quality management of surveying and mapping projects and for improving the relevant systems and procedures governing surveying and mapping work.
Yu Xinzong, Director of the Surveying and Mapping Division of the Shandong Provincial Department of Natural Resources, accompanied the inspection and put forward the following requirements: our institute must attach great importance to the issues identified and reported by the inspection team, clearly define responsibilities, and ensure thorough implementation of corrective measures; it must also place a high priority on the quality of its supervisory deliverables, firmly cultivate a commitment to excellence, enhance staff competence, strengthen accountability, and strive to build an outstanding geological exploration institution that is both internally strong in capability and externally distinguished in reputation.
This inspection and supervision campaign aims to strengthen unified oversight of the quality of surveying and mapping deliverables nationwide, comprehensively elevate the overall quality of such products, and ensure the safety of major national infrastructure projects. The findings of this inspection will serve as a key basis for assessing and managing the qualifications of surveying and mapping institutions.
Our institute will attach great importance to the issues and deficiencies identified during this supervisory inspection, strengthen corrective measures and their implementation, improve process oversight, and enhance the management of surveying and mapping projects. We will progressively establish and refine a long-term mechanism for ensuring the quality of our surveying and mapping and geospatial information deliverables, thereby elevating the quality of our outputs to a new level.
