To further implement the spirit of the “Quality Month” campaign and enhance our institute’s technical capabilities, on December 9, our institute invited Meng Fanqi, Director of the Geological Hazard Investigation and Prevention Division at the Shandong Provincial Center for Territorial Spatial Ecological Restoration, to deliver a specialized training lecture on geological hazard risk assessment to our professional technical staff.

Meng Fanqi outlined the current landscape and emerging requirements for geological hazard prevention and control, emphasizing the critical importance and key priorities of the ongoing geological hazard risk survey. Drawing on his own professional experience, he provided a detailed exposition on several aspects, including the overarching approach to geological hazard risk assessment, the technical essentials of hazard risk investigation and evaluation, the methodological highlights of the risk survey, and the processes involved in fieldwork and the compilation of laboratory‑based results. Finally, using the example of a geological hazard risk survey conducted in a city within Taian, Meng Fanqi engaged with the participants in a discussion, addressing potential challenges that may arise in future risk‑survey efforts and considering practical considerations based on real‑world conditions.

Through this training, our institute’s technical personnel have gained a deeper understanding of the specific technical requirements, commonly used methodologies, field survey procedures, and report‑writing processes involved in geological hazard risk assessment. Participants stated that, moving forward, they will continue to strengthen their learning and practical application, strive to deliver high‑quality results in all geological hazard risk‑assessment projects undertaken by our institute, and contribute their efforts to Shandong Province’s geological hazard prevention and control initiatives.
