Recently, the Mineral Exploration Guidance Center of the Shandong Provincial Department of Natural Resources convened a panel of experts to review the final report of the “1:50,000 Regional Mineral Geological Survey of Zhigou and Zhucheng Sheets in Shandong Province” project undertaken by our institute. Following scoring by the review panel, the report received 91 points, earning it the distinction of an excellent‑level regional mineral geological survey report.
This project was a provincial-level geological exploration initiative for 2019, publicly tendered by the Shandong Provincial Department of Natural Resources, and represents the first standard‑scale regional mineralogical survey undertaken by our institute in recent years. After two years of intensive effort, our institute conducted updated geological mapping and revision of the Zhi’gou and Zhucheng standard‑scale sheets, newly identifying numerous metallic and nonmetallic mineral occurrences. We also estimated the resources of gold, silver, copper, lead–zinc, bentonite, and porcelain clay in the area, delineated three prospective exploration targets, and established favorable prospects for future mineral exploration, thereby providing up-to-date foundational data to support the next phase of geological investigations in this region.
As a project designed to enhance the province’s comprehensive basic geological survey, it has filled the gap in regional mineral‑geological mapping for the Zhigou and Zhucheng sheets, marking a significant breakthrough in our institute’s geological work. The favorable outcome of this review underscores recognition of our institute’s technical capabilities. Moving forward, we will continue to leverage our strengths in geological surveying and strive to provide robust technical support for Shandong Province’s foundational geological endeavors.
